I Need Some Advice On A Good Digital Camera

Hey guys, just about to ship out tomorrow on a cross canada trip and just thought before I left I would pick up a new camera. My Canon Powershot Elph was a great camera but it seems to be acting up a lot now and I think it's time to upgrade. Plus I don't want to get out there and have a camera that is on the fritz.

So I was thinking about maybe getting another Canon

But I also love my friend's Fuji camera as the pictures look so crisp.

Basic needs for the camera are

- something small that can fit comfortably in a pocket (so slim)
- My old camera was 3 megapixels and seemed fine but I see up to 8 megapixel cameras are out there now. Is there a noticibly big difference between 3-8 megapixels? I am just taking pictures of friends/family and at the shows so I don't need anything too crazy
- I would like the camera to have video capability (i think just about all cameras do that now anyways)
- Something that has a decent battery life

Anyways as you can tell I am not a big camera guru so some advice would be very appreciated. I will have lots of pics for you guys when I get back from the East Coast

Thanks,
DH

the more pixels the better, especially for printing. Also if you take a shot and need more zoom, you'll be able to crop what you want out of the pic and it will still look good, only real drawback you'll need more memory cards,

fuji makes good digi cams, i used to have a small one when they first came out, took great pics

My fuji 2mp took the most crisp pictures ive ever seen. My mothers boyfriend just got her an HP 3 or 4MP and the picture quality is horrid!

My next cam will be a fuji, or a nice canon.

I just bought one of the smaller ones. 5 mp is very nice. With the memory upgrade we were getting 48 pics in a go. The battery was fine. The coolest thing is it starts real fast. open the cover and shoot.

sony cybershot. One feature I just saw that i do not have and would be cool is water proof. Otherwise a guy said just ziplock it for bad weather. Not sure if everything would look like crap.

I recently bought a Canon SD450 and love it. It's tiny, 5 megapixels, and deals well with an unexperienced photographer like myself
