In Montréal, I'd say about 70% of home owners *in areas where it's permitted* have one. Shoveling snow at 6 am for most of the population having to deal with traffic, just doesn't cut it when you can conveniently drive out of the driveway 1 hour later to go battle the traffic.

It's not pretty, but it's convenient.
