I watched the movie "Crash" last night

Was kind of interesting, different. Not like my usual "blow 'em up" movies. It was good, worth the watch.

Though I have to confess, and this is really hard for me to say (haha) but I almost wanted to cry when the little girl jumped up to protect her dad with her magic cloak.

I think I need a beer now...

Great movie. I watched it in the cinema when it was released and my girlfriend hated it. She's a very intelligent girl but didn't like this movie. I don't understand.

I'm gonna go buy it on DVD tonight actually. Gonna sit and watch it with a few Vodka's.

Good film, worth watching. If only all the bigwig hollywood blockbusters had the same kinda intelligence behind them. We'd ALL be smarter

I don't know. You guys thought this was an intelligent movie?

The premise was a bunch of exaggerated racist people realizing that all people are really just people, all in one day. I thought it was over-exaggerated, but entertaining nonetheless.

A rookie cop switches partners because the other guy is "racist". Then he saves a black mans life (the same one from the former incident who was suddenly trying to prove that he is black), gives a black kid a ride, then shoots the black kid for thinking he had a gun (which he actually did but the incident didn't involve it). I could see why someone would think the movie is dumb, its pretty far fetched.

I have to agree.

It deals with pseudo-intellectual themes in a heavy-handed, derivative manner. It offers no though-provoking questions, nor does it provide hitherto unknown insights into the human condition. I could go on, but dinner's ready.

I'm with you, Sly. The movie piles on coincidence after friggin' coincidence. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, but I didn't think it was one of the year's best, thats for sure. It had some interesting observations and interesting things to say, and showed how we all have our prejudices, be they what they are. But yeah, after awhile, I remember watching it in the theater and my eyes kind of rolled, as I was saying to myself, "Okay, come on, they are presenting these unrealistic coincidences and trying to pass them off as believable." It didn't work with me as it did with others obviously.

Anything with Don Cheadle in it is a great flick.

He doesn't pick bad movies or roles and he rocks them all.

Buck from Boogie Nights is one of my most favorite movie character of all time.

He's probably one of the best B-level actors out there. Very underrated but picking up some steam lately.

Yep. I thought it was bad personally. The people who think this movie is "deep" probably thought the same of Donnie Darko.

The coincidences were a bit much and they tried too hard to get the message through, but it was a well-done, well-acted movie. There were some tense moments and yes, when the girl jumped to save her dad I was sure she died. It was a strong moment.

I very much liked it, but I agree with your assessment. It didn't have a complex plot, it basically just tried to put all the racial stereotypes out there and let the audience react to them. In a weird way I thought of the movie as a complex Seinfeld episode in the sense that all the small stories and characters were wound together in some fashion to form one big story.

It also shows how the actions of one person can lead to a chain of events that affect many total strangers, whose actions then go on to affect even more total strangers... Kind of a diagram of how life really works...

That movie was great, I rented it at blockbuster then told them I wanted to buy it. It makes you think about how your actions effect others on a larger scale.

I like Cheadle too, but ask any English person what they thought of his cockney accent in Oceans 11 (and the dumb sequel) and you'll find out he doesn't 'rock' every role - it was a seriously bad accent, trust me!

I have been moved by many movies, but for some reason, that scene certainly didn't make me tear up. Just being honest. "Crash" was missing something for me; although I liked it, not nearly as much as others.

Yeah that's probably a better analysis as the director titled the movie because it was reflective of how all different people and races "crash" into each other on a daily basis.

Interesting to hear. I thought he did well and I even have a few Cockney friends... although I didn't know he was supposed to be Cockney in the movie. Go figure.

Seriously....he almost erased the memory of Dick Van Dyke.

He was excellent in Hotel Rawanda though.
