    Was asked before but never answered. How does GOOGLE get away with this...?

    Been asked before but never really saw an answer. How do they get away with having so much copyrighted content?

    I've been looking around and you can find pretty much everything on there now. From full episodes of Showtimes shows (ex: bullshit) to HBO shows (ali g) to BBC, Fox, etc shows. More and more shit is added every day.

    I'm not complaining, but I'm curious because if any of us setup a site that lets people upload video content, so that we can reformat it into flash quality (which is shit compared to original quality of most) and slap it on our site we'd get sued in a second.

                      u cant find this shit looking for it directly, for example. you won't find shit looking for "bullshit" or "pen & teller" but when I put in "alien abduction" I get their full 30 minute episode.

                      this is Showtimes show. I'm sure showtime wouldn't love to have it on there...

                          maybe they are considered "held harmless" since the videos aren't hosted on their servers...? maybe, who knows. I'm probably wrong.

                                  geez. you don't read do you. all the videos are hosted on their servers. they are first converted to a format where they can ONLY be watched on GOOGLE and then they are hosted there.

                                          its like google converting your entire site content into their Google format and hosting it on their site, without a link to your site.

                                                                          If they're not being sued for it already, they probably will be. They respond to DMCA complaints over thumbnails and search engine ranked positions. It's probably a lot like GUBA. They know they are going to have content that belongs to someone else, but their position is they'll remove it if asked ? Kind of like 1996 and all the sites with stolent content that had the disclaimer at bottom, "these photos are believed to be in the public domain."

                                                                              google video is made entirely of user submitted videos , that the person submits verified they are the primary producer copyright holder. ( kind of like ebaumsworld )
