I don't agree with the cut out the middle man. It's better to outsource non-core functions as much as possible so you can focus on growing your business, as LiveDose said. Mundane tasks take up a lot of time and it's better if you don't have to deal with them. Also try to automate as much as possible via programming and systems.

biggest cost to me is hosting right now...then advertising/traffic.....

hosting needs to be done by third parties because where i'm from there are no good data centers...

you have to do a combination of both..

If you try to cut out certain things you cant handle you will just end up with less profits .

I suppose your method is a better example of what to do to " get to the next level" and my way is more of a "way to increase profits "

Well you can't stop advertising! Just make sure that the advertising ROI is worth your money!

Stop advertising with the ones who don't really make you that much and only invest in the ones with the top ROI.

The hosting bill cannot be stopped. Quality hosting is worth every dime. Just make sure no one is linken hotten

Automate as much as possible. The less manual work you have to do on existing sites, the more effort you can put into new projects.

You will figure a lot of shit out this year and be thinking, "FUCK, I was such a newb..."

But at 4K a month you are not a newb, you are someone who is "getting it"...

Once you hit about 100K you can consider yourself, "Having made it"... Especially if you are at 8K per month within the next 6 months...

How to do it? Rinse and repeat everything you have done up until now... Only this time automate more, out-source some things like programming that might keep you from releasing another kickass site for a month while you train yourself...

Look into cheaper hosting with more features but don't go dirt cheap and search their name here before buying so you can weigh in the good, the bad and the ugly first.

Search here for threads started by me... Not posts (replies), new threads... Also 2hp (2houseplague) and then search for threads started by people who posted good/helpful/profitable info in those threads... In about 4 hours of reading between the lines at GFY I think you can add a minimum of $650 a month to your pocketbook...

Doing so would have you at 8K or so in that 6 months...

Then, rinse and repeat

BTW... The amount you make will never be enough... Not enough for you or for others to be impressed with you... Why? Because that keeps you growing...

If I make only $450 on a certain day I get angry... Only 2 years ago I would have been happy to make $70 per day on a regular basis...

just make sure like the others said to keep grip on the costs and roi, make spreadsheets see what money is goin where, make a scheme how much you wanna save, so you can buy bulk and get discounts, talk to your host what 6 months prepay does on the price etc

While I don't agree with the person who said create your own content cause that costs more than anything and would end up putting you in the hole more, there are many ways. Some as people have suggested are looking at different hosting, etc.

But you said advertising, just make sure you are making your ROI on advertising, if not try some place else to gain exposure.
