Is my cat going crazy?

Anyone ever had a fairly young cat that just started acting like they are seeing things all the time? For a couple days now he just seems like he's spooked by ghosts or something constantly... freaking out because he sees a chair or something. Have you ever had this happen?

i think that's just normal

they are playing and learning to "attack".

the little kitty of my buddy always "attacks" his chair and then some random computer cables.

i think that's quite normal

I think you would have to see what I'm talking about to understand. He's not attacking or having fun. He's just looking at nothing like it's going to kill him. He just seems mentally disturbed. He's not swatting or playing...

My cat does the same thing. He's afraid of anything and everything. He'll sit there for 45 min staring at the wall like theres something there.

MY CAT WAKES ME UP
Hello,

My five year old cat sleeps in my bed from about 11:00 p.m. until a bout 4:30 or 5:00 a.m. When she wakes up, she wants me to wake up too. She scratches at the bedding, or will jump on the dresser and knock things over until I get out of bed. I have no choice but to put her out of the room and close the door. When I do that, she?ll scratch at the door and yowl for hours. If I let her back in, and get back into to bed, she starts up again with the scratching and knocking things over. I play with her before bedtime, and she has plenty of food, water, and clean litter. She had a routine check up at the vet about three months ago and had a clean bill of health. What's going on with her? I can't take much more of this sleep deprivation!

Thank you,
-Lisa

Dear Guardian Lisa:

When your cat gives you the 4:00 A.M. wake-up call, scoop her up and put her in the bathroom with her litter box and other comforts. Tell her this can be her private play-room and you'll see her in the morning. Be relaxed and light in your manner so she feels this is a perk for her and not a punishment. She may protest for a few nights but soon it will become her nocturnal security room. Her wake-up behavior may be a reaction to your bio-rhythms at that time of the morning. Perhaps you wake her up! Sleep tight!
