Dear AVN:

01-05-2006, 04:11 PM

I just spoke to the one employee I sent to internext this year. I felt one employee was enough. I was wrong. One employee was one employee too many.

This is his 7th year attending internext and he feels that it is by far the worst show he has been to.

My advice to you AVN is that you immediately fire the person responsible for scheduling this show at the same time as your other show, and CES. If you can make sure that this person never works in the trade show industry again, that would be a plus.

BIG MISTAKE. In addition to jacked up room rates, focus is spread too thin.

Now I have to spend the evening figuring out how to get the hotel to refund a night or two of his hotel stay so I can get him the hell out of there and back home were he can be productive.

I just got off the phone with AVN, they said they will compensate you by sending GAYVN flyers with a bunch of guys touching eachother to your parents house, grandparents house, your kids school, your local church, your local gas station and everything within a 20 mile radius of your home.

i'm going to vegas to see my friends and take some money from the poker room. i've written this show off productivity wise. normally i smash it on the marketing and promotional level. this time i am going bare bones and just gonna spend the weekend with friends.

I have a pass, ticks and invitations to partys, a hotel room I can stay in (my friend got a 2 place room) and I decided to wait to see how it will be... I was sick anyawys. I'm glad I didn't go... I knew I probably wasn't going . Fucking mess

btw, avn also said next year they will be making all the attendees wear these masks

they understand they may cause some discomfort, and are not too cosmetically appealing, but they modified gas masks and converted that little box on the right side of the mask, into a computer to track how many breaths you take while on the showroom floor

each breath willl cost 35 cents

people with athsma will get a discounted 30 cents per breath

I thought the summer show in August in Florida sucked donkey balls with their tight security and registrants-only-on-the-hotel-property policy.

So this thread shows that the downward spiral continues.

pretty soon NOBODY will be attending internext in Florida or Vegas. the smaller regional shows will emerge as the ones to attend.

The shows have not been good for a few years. Mostly a bunch of fat drunk slobs stalking the floor for pictures with hired models and begging for free shirts. The show is good outside the show floor though. Smaller parties and invite only events. The show floor itself is just a headache.

I would really like to hear the AVN response, as we were exhibiting. We had no more then 30 people pass through the booth today, if this keeps up, the costs will be about 100/person passing by.

I think my odds in roulette will be better then on the Internext showfloor in making money.

That's amazing.. I think everyone should count like that tomorrow and the next day. Do you know whether they were actual adult industry people? or CES people wanting a badge so they can get into all the parties they've heard about and see a tit or two?

This may sound harsh, but... How about everyone starts charging back fees for passes, badges, booths and whatever else that's been paid directly to AVN? That will certainly teach them not to fuck with people's hard-earned money and precious time.

I had alot of people criticize me for not wanting to go to Internext this year because I felt it had no focus and was going to be shitty for business. I can use the money now to go to a few smaller venues - but I didn't know that it was going to be that bad.

very true - I think AVN is an excellent company and there is no hate here - after years of great events, this one appears that not enough thought went into it from the 'webmasters point of view' - thats all. I'm sure on paper it looked smart and reasonable, but in practice - just not happening.
