kmanrox, if he is telling the truth and he served 8 years then theres hardly going to be link.. given that most news services don't have archives going back that far (almost but not quite)..

I love the laws in Colorado. If I want to buy a gun (including handguns) all I have to do is go to the Sporting Goods store pick out the one I want. Give them a photo Id they do a quick background check by phone (less than 5 minutes) and out I go with my new gun. You don't have to have a special license or anything.

Unfortunately it's not that way here in NY I have to be a resident for at least a year and then when I bring my gun in from Colorado I'm going to have to turn it in to the police Dept. apply for a license/permit and wait for 6 months or whatever and who knows what will happen to the gun if I don't get approved :(

i just don't think it's a situation where you're going to be able to look back in hindsight and know that you did everything correctly.. the chance of something very wrong happening has got to be pretty high when you're half asleep but peeking with adrenalin.. you're not exactly going to be at your chess playing best thinking about not being there for your kids in jail.. if anything the much more primal "make sure not hurt kids".. consequences probably take a big second to "is he behind this door?", "will i die?", "is there more than one?", "fuck fuck fuck"...
