Dark Side of the Moon and the Wizard of Oz
I have seen snips on MTV or somewhere like that, where they showed how if you turn the sound down of the movie The Wizard of Oz, and played the Pink Floyd album Dark Side of the Moon, the music goes perfectly with the movie as a soundtrack.
I am planning on trying this soon, but was wondering if anyone here has tried this yet. If so, where exactly in the movie should you start, and how many times will the album play over the course of the movie? Also, just how much smoke should you have set aside for this adventure? Thank you in advance. |

Thanks [Labret] I was thinking what a treasure trove of information, but damn, I have yet to find a link on that page that works yet.
Has anyone here actually tried this yet? |

Aha, I think I have found a good link there [Labret] They say here that "One crucial aspect of the WOO/DSM experience is timing. It is important to begin the CD at the end of the third, final roar of the MGM lion."
I will let you all know how it goes. |

you have to use the digitaly re-mastered version of dark side of the moon, and the digital remaster of the wizard of oz...
Get the cd cued up and pause it at the very begining, then start the cd as soon as the loin roars the third time, some things to look for are in the begining when the cd says "look around" dorthy starts to look around, and when the evil lady in the begining starts riding her bike it says something about riding a bike, also the poppy fields part is real trippy. Mostly the mood of the music goes with the movie in the different parts. I tried it, its kinda cool, but not like its an exact soundtrack or something. |

It does sound pretty good - although that may just depend on how much acid you've had ![]() <a href="http://www.dirtydollar.com"><img src="http://www.sexcontents.com/kitty/ddsmall.gif"></a> <a href="http://www.contentlotto.com/index.php?account=pornoreaper"><img src="http://www.contentlotto.com/images/contentlottobutton.gif"></a> |

You don't have to have digital remasters ... it still works with VHS and cassette or vinyl ....
First time I tried it was with VHS and DSOM on CD ... worked great ![]() between me and my friend ... we found over 70 events that matched ...I would like to believe it is just a bit more than drug folklore ... I was 100% straight when I watched it ... You will have to draw your own conclusions ... Some of the events I can remember off hand : - The heartbeats start at the exact same moment we first see Dorothy on screen ... - In "Breath In The Air", There is a line that says "Run Rabbit Run" while Dorothy is running in the yard looking for Toto ... _the "alarm bell" at the beginning of "Time" is timed to the exact time we first see the old lady who has Toto in her bike basket (the same one who goes on to play the wicked witch) - Pay particular attention to how the music picks up and subsides as the storm does during the tornado scene in the movie .... - Listen for COME IN at the moment that Dorothy enters the wagon of the Miracle Elixir guy or whoever he is (gypsy) ... - When Dorothy lands in Oz ... The song playing is "Us And Them" ... the lyrics go "black ..." at the moment the carera goes on the wicked witch (who is in a black dress), and then says "and blue ..." and it switches to the good witch (who luck would have it is wearing a light blue dress) - Same song (Us and Them) - listen for the line "who knows which is which?", at the scene where Dorothy is standing with the good witch and the wicked witch ... These are only a few things that are pretty damn convincing that DSOM was maybe deliberately recorded as an alternate soundtrack to Wizard of Oz ... On the record, David Gilmour outright denies the rumour ... but Roger Waters just chuckles and says "maybe we did ... maybe we didn't ![]() At any rate ... it is pretty fucking freaky !! ![]() ![]()

I am listening to DSOM right now matter of fact to refresh my memory ... my daughter has my "Wizard of Oz - 50th Anniversary Edition" tape though .... it is her absolute favorite movie since about 3 years of age right up to present ..

Another pretty convincing line is when we first see THE SCARECROW in the farmer's field ... the lyric says "the lunitic is in the grass ..."

I think if you use enough chemicals... any two forms of media can mesh.
I remember sitting sitting in a club once... tripping hard. The DJ was spinning techno, but for some odd reason, the monitors were playing the Ultimate Fighting Championship. It worked!!! |

My girlfriend did this. I was sober and I don't much like Pink Floyd, but it was quite spectacular. There are "dead spots" where stuff doesn't match, but overall it's well worth doing.
IIRC, we used the usual videostore VHS of Wizard and a generic CD of Dark Side. I dunno whether my GF was doing the "third roar" timing trick or not. |
