Not possible, it's a loose-loose situation, sooner or later!

Pornopat 01-04-2006 08:56 AM

Sure. Easy as hell.
Just start a casino.

I lost money in poker from a girl yesterday! So I don't think so! Not for me that is!

when I was working for an online casino they brought someone that was playing poker online for a living to educate us on fraud etc.
The guy was making 200K + a year from playing poker

I know lots of professional gamblers. Spending as much time as I have in pool rooms and you see lots of them. Heres some basic info on three of them:

1) 35ish guy, he is a fantastic card player. Last year he declared 72k in winnings from online poker alone. I would estimate he wins another 40-50k a year playing gin and holdem in private games and thats a serious conservative estimate. He also plays awesome golf and has a string of regular customers he beats at the courses here in south florida. He also runs a small book and told me that he averages a few thousand a week during football season. This guy hasnt worked a regular job since he was a teenager. He owns his home free and clear and has a wife and a few kids too.

2) 50 something guy who runs a cover of being a school teacher. In reality he runs a good size book here in South Florida and is one of the best greyhound handicappers I have even heard of. Last year on a number of different occasions he won over 15k in a single day betting on the dogs. He got divorced recently and part of his settlement with his wife is that his entire teacher's paycheck goes to her. 100%. He also raised 3 kids and sent them all to the school of their choice. One went to a private school that was like 25k a year. Meanwhile this guy declares a P.E. Teachers salary. This guy is my favorite out of all the gamblers I know. The stories I have about him are just crazy. He also happens to win the Ironman award from me as I have never met anyone like him, someone who can stay up all night and then go stand in the sun all day and then get off work and do it all again.

3) A pool player out of the West Coast who was competing at the highest level and the year he got second at the US Open he then quit to play poker for a living. There are a number of pool players I know that have departed from the game to play poker, and this player on the West Coast is not an anomaly by any measure. He was just such an amazing talent, and he pretty much walked away from it all because he was doing six figures playing hold em.

quite a few poker players are making bank at texas holdem

But the game has become alot tighter last months

A poker player dont see poker as gambling and neither do I

sexyclicks 01-04-2006 09:26 AM

actually the owners of pokerroom.com made their money as professional gamblers in land-based casinos all over Europe, US and Canada just travelling and gambling until they get banned from each casino

Betfair Poker announced that is was to leave the Cryptologic network in the new year, and apparently have purchased Poker Champs, part owned by poker pro, Gus Hansen.

who are the good sport handicapers?

I just finished watching "Two for the Money" starting Al Pacino who hires a guy with a 80%+ success rate in determining which team will win a game. Are there people with such stats in real life!

Getting an 80%+ strike rate is easy. Getting that strike rate AND decent odds at the same time is far more difficult...
