If I read your story correctly, and assume you originally had XP on your old drive, then bought a new drive, and made it your primary, and tried to load XP on it, it won't work with the old drive still on your computer unless you format it first. Try physically removing the old drive first, do the new installation and see if that works.

Also, if it's files off your old drive you want to save, you better burn them first, or copy to another blank drive, you're not gonna be able to get them any other way.

i have xp pro on my primary master runnin ntfs and my slave with all my data runnin fat32. never had any problems reading from my old hd.
i know u can reinstall xp on the new drive which is ur primary master without losing program files. only thing u'll need to reinstall are hardware drivers and maybe have to re-enter serial codes for software. i've had to reinstall once and it was pretty easy. everything is pretty much spelled out step by step. |
