Intriguing thread - Search Engines Discussion: Which one is better?

There was the discussion I started yesterday about live.com and other SE's comparison with Google.

Today I've found this one on SEO Chat:

"Yahoo is considered the number one search engine above all other search...

One thing was obviously true.
Visit this one and compare it with Google Traffic results.
Yahoo Traffic Results on Alexa

I was wondering about the rest...

I'm interested in your opinion here...

Where do people go on yahoo.com?
mail.yahoo.com - 50%
search.yahoo.com - 8%

Reach per million users:

Today 1 wk. Avg. 3 mos. Avg. 3 mos. Change
276,000 276,550 289,150 5%

276K x .5 = 138K
276K x .08 = 22K
-------------------------------------------

Where do people go on google.com?
google.com - 78%

Reach per million users:

Today 1 wk. Avg. 3 mos. Avg. 3 mos. Change
265,500 258,700 237,750 7%

265K x .78 = 206K
I'd say Yahoo is a bigger email server. But, I'm not saying they have a bad concept or that I don't appreciate their traffic.

i totally agree with you. but, yahoo is not only search engine, it is the portal itself. so, people are used to shopping on yahoo. i think it is more thankful to do optimization for Yahoo (if you add MSN, that would be great!), because you could make some good results in short period of time. You cannot play with all the big guys on Google.

Good rating:
Google = inbound links (in a way - the older the better)
Yahoo = updated content...

Good luck with your SEO work, man!
