    ePassporte/BankOneChase load update

Chris Mallick investigated for me and it seems the rejection reason was:

"The bank declined for a reason that is generic (see message below). These BIN numbers for Business Debit Cards are usually set to decline ?cash advance? transactions to prevent employees from taking company funds out in cash. I therefore assume that you must have hit some parameter limitations the bank set and thus the declines for a time, and now the approved authorizations."

"I see the last load from his CC on the 1st of December. There are 2 subsequent declines on the 16th of December for a reason of "05," which means declined by bank. Unfortunately, the "05" is a generic decline code and could stand for several reasons. However, I see 3 loads on December 17, 2005 from this BIN number, which looks normal. In our history, we typically get about 4 loads a day from this BIN, so nothing seems out of the ordinary."

Although my bank's fraud/loss department told me the declines were due to "association with 3rd party gaming sites" this no longer seems to be the case, as just this morning i was able to load from that very same card. Obviously my bank was in error telling me such things on Friday, or i would not have been able to load today.

So the bottom line is all seems to be in order for me with loading from my BankOne/Chase business card.

Chris for getting to the bottom of it!

Your banking representative told you it was for "association with 3rd party gaming sites" because that is possibly what they use code "05" for. Even though the industry may use if for one thing, not everyone needs to use it for the same things. Kind of like some police departments change their 10-code system to suit their own needs.

I think the error and their explanation of it is due in part by the behavior of your purchases.

Two weeks ago I got my checking account and my credit card shut off. Why? Because I charge shit on the card and then pay it off completely at the end of the month. To the CC company and the bank it looked like fraud. I have been doing this for 2 years now and every 6 months I get an offer for $500 more credit on the card.

          ???? WTF?

Since when does paying off a balance in full make you a fraudster?

I just imagine they give me this grief and probably never even talk to the fuckers who never make a payment and are always over the limit.

I am glad this has been resolved. Thanks Easton for posting the good news!

I too get declines on my card for Reason Code 5. When i call my bank, it seems like it is always "unusual spending patters". Unusual is an understatement for me. LOL!

Banks decline for a variety of reasons using Reason Code 5. But we do not have any issues as to being black listed by any banks to our knowledge.

Again, thanks Easton and if anyone has any issues, email me or Keyser or Shaliza. We are here to help.
