You guys should look into becoming an Import/export merchant.

Import/export merchant: This international entrepreneur is a sort of free agent. He has no specific client base, and he doesn't specialize in any one industry or line of products. Instead, he purchases goods directly from a domestic or foreign manufacturer and then packs, ships and resells the goods on his own. This means, of course, that unlike the EMC, he assumes all the risks (as well as all the profits).

So basically, travel around buy stuff, sell on ebay. I'm looking into it

eBay has always been a pain in my arse. Too much time dealing w/ non-payers, complaints, and returns for the worst reasons.

If you have the right product you can make a killing on eBay.

I started selling on eBay in March of '98 and stopped about a year or so ago. The problem with the majority of eBay customers is they want everything NOW, but they want a bargain too. They want their tracking number 2 minutes after they pay, they email you every day until the package gets there and then half the time they aren't happy with the item.

eBay gives sellers ZERO protection anymore. Even when I was a Powerseller it would take 2-3 days to get a response from eBay's support department.

I RULE on Ebay.

Ebay has far more potential than I can keep up with. Had to change my entire business models.

People sell old comic books I did on Ebay and every month I'll get a fan letter or something. I don't need comic book store distributors anymore! Just up and sell em' on Ebay and make a killing. In a comic store I make less than 30% of cover price. On Ebay I make a minimum of 95% cover price and if I autograph the stuff I make far more.

Add to that t-shirts, mugs etc. I have huge amount of catching up to do.

Working in the licensing/toy business for about 20 years I can tell you I have snagged up bargains that are outrageous. Just today I snagged up an item that goes for $800 retail and I got it for $125! Multiples at that!

You can take $5k and if you're a savvy shopper you can turn that into $25k or more if you know what you're doing.

I've had a rare few problems with sellers but you just report them and wait. They'll get busted big time eventually.

Even software programs with real registration #s you can get for big ass cheap on Ebay.

Yet the buying isn't always done on Ebay, you have to shop around. I have secrets that would curl your hair.

I had a pal sell a SKETCH, just a fucking SKETCH on Ebay for $500. It was an autographed xerox at that! Do some fine art prints of water colors or oils and you can re-fucking-tire. But you better be kick ass at art. I kick ass but hadn't had an outlet like Ebay until this year.

I have people BEGGING me every day to do art they can sell. BEGGING! Driving from places as far as Arizona and Utah and flying in from all over the fucking planet. I just don't have the time! It's bad enough to keep up with studying all the new software and 3D progams etc.

You can sell erotica on Ebay. I tossed a water color sketch of a nude up for a pal who sells on Ebay and he had to beat people back with a stick. Snagged some choice coin for it too but had to fork it over to friends who got slammed by Katrina. Was able to get 12 people out of Dodge with that dough. Came right on fucking time!

I snagged a piece on Ebay a few months ago for $600. It's a rare item that Disney made only 200 of. Found out that dozens of them had been damaged after shipping and that only 120 or so were in the hands of collectors...

Until...

Hurricane Season!!!

Them fucking hurricanes destroyed all but 30 of the items! Now I can get an easy $5-$10K for it but no way. It's gonna stay with my family from now on.

Trading fair goods is great. Opening up new avenues is great. I just don't have the time for all the administrative shit. Packaging, shipping etc. Only if it's an easy to ship item will I do it.

I'm a toy collector. I know how to shop. I know how to track down the designers and manufacturers because for years I designed their shit or helped them market it or did legals.

Getting people what they want before they realize they want or need it is half the battle.

I rarely ever lose on bids either. I have my limit and know how to do it. All those years at those Sotheby and Christie auctions helped.

If you can't sell a pile of dog shit on Ebay you have no salesman skills. It's that fucking easy.
