phpmail only sending local mail??

hey guys, i have some scripts that just use phpmail function but the problem is they can only send local emails (@mydomain.com)

They dont send to anything that is not local.. Does anyone have any ideas?

BTW this is shared hosting.

It's to stop spammers using PHP scripts to mail, lots of hosts that offer shared hosting do this.

yes but what about scripts that i have that use mail function like Forms that auto respond after user fills info, etc?

Only two things I can think of are either your hosted with someone running IIS Windows and they dont have the settings right for the SMTP or your host specifically blocks it if they are using Apache (I assume your not on Apache2) for the reason given above (spamming) - you would definitely have to hit your host for either reason

My first idea would be to move to a reliable host - anyone running an apache server who doesnt know how to set up sendmail is obviously not running a hosting company - theyre running a scam

What version of apache are they running?
