URL blocked by employer's filter

I have a Vegas travel site with a pretty busy messageboard (not GFY busy, but busy for a little vegas site done in my spare time!). I've bought a new domain name and moved the board over in preparation for the new skins and portal designs I ordered from BlueWire Designs.

So, first couple of days at the new URL and people are unable to log in from work because the domain is blocked saying it is a "sex" website. It's not although some of the other sites on my server are. But my other vegas url isn't blocked and it's on the same server and IP as the new URL.

Is there a way I can find out where and why it's blocked? Any way to get it removed from these lists? Or do my members all have to do actual work durning the day and only surf my board from home? That's not okay.

could just be keyword filtering if the domain has any words on the blacklist it won't allow them to visit the site... i don't know if it would go as far as scanning the site's content for banned words but i know a lot of times they just look for keywords in the domain..

Are there maybe "bad" words in your new domain?

For example, we had an affiliate with the domain

be a star .com

well ccbill did read it as

beast ar, and his links did not work ;-)

Also check the domain history, maybe it WAS a sex domain? That are all options that comes in mind....Since the IP is obviously not an issue, since the other did work(does it still?)

andre, what happened when his links "did not work"? How did the affiliate know they weren't working? What happened when you clicked on them?

I know the domain's history. A friend of mine bought it a few years ago (late 2001 I think) and put up a Vegas message board. He has always been a regular poster on my board and decided that it was more headache than he wanted to deal with to do his own. He focused on other areas of Vegas Travel and I worked out a trade for his domain name. There's no reason it should be blocked from anything unless.....

The URL has "messageboard" in it. Could that alone be enough to flag many employer filters? I can't think of anything else that might trigger a keyword problem other than message board.

I seem to recall back in the late 90's one of my IP's got flagged as porn and I was able to write to someone and they fixed it for me. Now I can't remember who that was. Anyone have any idea?

Thanks.

I think when you didn't invest money in promoting the new domain, the easiest way is buying another domain....
