Fucking Music Labels, Can't Even Play a Bought CD on my PC! WTF!!!

Wow this is total crap. I just bought an all-time greatest Christmas songs CD from EMI. My stereo is fucked so I thought I'd play it on my PC. Well the fucking program that come along on the CD doesn't manage to open and I can't play them any other way.

I already tried to rip them but the tracks sound fucked up due to the copy protection. What a brilliant idea, let's make CD's you can't play, that's a money-maker!

And they wonder why people love downloading their music

They make these things now...I think they call 'em "CD Burners" or something to that effect.

Must be a Sony....I heard they put some new software that loads automatically onto your PC and controls the CDs. I think they are in trouble over it... do a google search.

We shouldn't encourage piracy of music CDs. Someday, we might need the RIAA's support for legal issues and we don't want to be labelled a bunch of copyright infringers.

Bad ju ju.

The only pirate we need and love is Chio...

What does burning have to do with being able to afford to buy the CD?

I can buy and download and burn from iTunes Music Store.

And it's because of shit like this and what Sony did that I refuse to buy another CD.

The first lawsuit as a result of this has been filed in the state of Texas.

The fine could be upwards of $100k for each computer infected and they've got 30,000 defendants at the moment.

This will most like spell BIG TROUBLE for Sony.

depends on the cd , from what i have read all the infected cd's with the spyware on it have been recalled , consumers that brought prior to the recall can send the cd back to sony for a non copyrighted version , anyway from what i have come across , The EMI discs use different software than Sony BMG, and have yet to cause any computer troubles

but as i said depends on the cd and copyprotection on the back cover in the corner should be a little simple of what copy protection is being used

on the cd itself that might be a ring that is unpressed (looks unburnt) if that is the case all you need is a black texta and color in that ring , it appears about 2 cm's from the outer edge

check here http://www.emimusic.info/
a site put out by emi for consumers pissed off about not being able to rip the tracks

haven't looked at the site myself , so not sure if it has the info you need

that being said , my other job is at a radio station , so we get cd's sent to us all the time , never had a problem ripping the cd's even when they have copy protection , most problem with ripping comes down to the age of the cd-rom

could be that i am in australia so we might get different batches compared to elsewhere

I also have many cd's, and I avoid Sony crap. When I see it's Sony, I goto mp3 store(www.allofmp3.com) and I buy it as mp3's there
