This is gonna be future collectors car. Sure it's a ford, but so is a Shelby, Cobra or a Boss. Ever watch Barret Jackson? Anyway. My local Ford dealer can get their hands on one (only 16% chance a dealer can get one here in Canada). It's priced for just under 200K cad$. Has to stay in Canada for 6 months and then you can export it.
Any takers? Hit me up on my icq.

It's one HOT car... Who cares if it's a ford... The original model destroyed everyone at the LE MANS 24 hours race...

Faster 0-60 - and half the price - and btw looks better imho :thumbsup

The Vette is still the only sports car that matters in the US! Z06 Bitches!

0-60 means dick on a race track.

the ford GT will eat ferrari's. just like it's predecessors did at le mans. that vette would get ripped apart like it was sitting still.

Some people think going in a straight line is racing... :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

For those saying this car looks odd, it's based on the 60's GT40, that's why. :error

You're an absolute idiot who knows nothing about cars.

It's beaten the 360 and the Murcielago in track times...and it's the fastest car you can buy today with a top speed of 212 mph. It doesn't matter if it's made in the US, Italy, or Nigeria...it's one of the best exotic automobiles made:

I love the new Z06. It's beautiful.
The Ford GT is pretty sweet too. I'd still rather have the z06. Road and Track did a nice comparison between the 2006 Viper, z06 and GT.

Paraskass 12-14-2005 10:29 PM

That video is a great find. Those Brits from topgear are the only ones that can produce a decent tv show about cars. The part where he tries to fit in the old gt40 made me think of John Cleese from his monty pyton times. Absolutely hilarious!

Calling the new gt a working class hero with a slegdehammer etc. is dead on.

it is designed after the le mans racers. why would that imply that i was thinking of any type of drag racers?

NEW YORK, March 22, 2005 -- Ford beat -- no, trounced -- world heavyweights Ferrari and Porsche at the 1966 24 hour race at Le Mans when three Ford GT40 Mk II race cars made history while finishing first, second and third.

After that convincing win, the Ford GT would go on to win Le Mans for the next three years in a row.

That car's been kicking every other supercar's ass since it came out. I *sat* in one once...that's the best I can say.

justfreemovies 12-15-2005 03:24 AM

they had a big show on cable about the troubles they had with the gt40 during research and development
but now that ford dont give a fuck about gt racing there wont be anything better coming from ford
this car was an amazing super car
they can keep restyling it but they are not making it any better than they did then

phonesex 12-15-2005 03:27 AM

not sure if its worth the price especially the amount of choices in that price range.

I saw one at a carshow, I'm not really down with Fords... but that is a pretty sweet ride. They look pretty mean in person.

Mr. Jim 12-15-2005 10:19 AM

There is no GT plant....

Each car is hand built very much like the Viper. In this case the car will be much more exclusive.

This is a retro car for those that do not know. In the 60's when the horsepower wars were heating up every Detroit company was looking to make the mark on racing. Ford... and i mena the man Ford had decided he was going to take LeMans and show the world that Fod was capable of taking down Ferrari and the likes.

Ford Entereds the Team Guernay driven GT 40 and went 1 2 3 for the first time in european racig history the Americans were looked upon as a threat and a viable one at that. For the remainder of the 60's american Muscle would light up the race track on both closed cources and dragstrips.

The Ford GT 40 would go down in history as the little car from the motor city that reminded the world that thge U.S. can produce the worlds most exotic racers when desired.

In the 1970's the oil embargo placed such an emphasis on fuel economy that the American auto manufacturers had to abandon most of the perfromance based initiatives.

Today we continue to capture the magic of that era by celebratiing the design and performance with tribute cars and throwback brands like GTo the new designed Mustang the Ford GT and the Dodge Viper (few people know that Carol Shelby was a big part of the design influence on the first rt/10 and GTS)

anyway...

I think the Ford GT is an amazing car that is more than just a fast American production exotic.... It is a celebration of the day Detroit sent Italy home with a loss

I would have to say, the ride is very very smooth in this car, It really does not feel like a ford whatsoever...

please show me a reliable super car. You are pushing the jagged edge when you get a performance vehicle, long rods with small bore, super high compression ratios, high rpms and you think something is not going to fail? I concur that 6 months is rediculous, of course I have seen non flogged Cobras of most gens drive longer than that without an issue. But please show me a Viper or Porche (especially RUF) or Ferarri or Lambo that is pushed a lot that is not constantly wearing main bearings, cam shafts, transmissions and differentials.

Reliable is a term used for daily drivers, you are not supposed to daily drive a super car, it is not engineered with that in mind. You do not get groceries in it, you take it out on dates, meetings etc to show off and let people know you had access to enough money to own one, weither that means you are in a debt now or it is paid off.

I'm not going to call you an idiot like you did to the last guy but your top speed is not as high as the XJ220 or the F1 I believe these are still the two top contenders for fastest cars, Even if you argued the XJ is not in production the F1 can still be ordered, Then there is also the koenigsegg which is only slightly slower than these two. All of them can still be bought to this day though.

eurorevenue 12-15-2005 01:14 PM

very nice ride :thumbsup

Tricksy 12-15-2005 01:15 PM

It's a nice car! I like it.

Mcarlsen 12-15-2005 01:21 PM

I have read about it in magazines. It is a good car, but you could get a viper for cheaper and the viper is a bit faster than the GT and has a bit better handling. To tell you the truth I would prefer a corvette over both.

I was just dropped off by that exact car here at the office 2006 427 zo6 in yellow

unbelieveably fast....

I have been in some of the worlds most sought after performance cars and i will say this.... the Z06 was one of the most impressive I have ever been in ...period
