Whats the best Preformance Clutch to get? - GoFuckYourself.com

Well, that depends on what kind of car you have. Normally, for a high-powered vehicle go with Centerforce Dual-Friction.

With the Centerforce, it's usually a good idea. One thing about the centerforces though, the peddle resistance is increased (takes more to push in the clutch), so it's something to note if your constantly in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

i don't know about specifically about your car, but ACT makes some great clutches.

how far are you planning on going with this?

are you willing to sacrifice some driveability for better performance?

no, you don't need a lighter flywheel, does nothing to enhance the clutch anyways and not for a street car as this only helps hi rpm race motors.

also some engines are externally balanced and the flywheel has to be balanced with all the other reciprocating parts, so if you change it out make sure it's right

like a chevy small block 400 is externally balanced

Thats the one I was looking at I need to find a LS1 Tech in Orlando here and go over what I want done with my car. So I don't try the lemme try this and see if it works method =)

I figured that If I got HP Kit... (comes with Clutch/Fly/Throwout bearing)

yeah, i wouldn't want to piss around putting a new clutch in either. that's something best left to someone with alot of experience doing it.

aren't you a member of any car forums? that's the best resource for things in your area. i've found a couple reputable shops in my area from boards.

Yeah, But I take forums "car forums" like GFY Doctors/lawyers. Everyone has a new way to make the car just " " that much better. Same thing when you hit the 1/4 strip everyone will tell you to add this or do that.

I need to look info a shop that has some credentals

depends if you want to go all out, sounds like you do, might as well get a steel bellhousing then to go with the setup.

when a clutch blows it comes apart with supersonic velocity

many a drag racers have had their feet and legs cut off in the early days before they required them to compete

that is why i actually like the forums. of course there is all the hired bullshit, but you can search for tons of info about all the vendors and weed out the chumps that way.

some of the larger forums even have sales rating system for their preferred vendors.

of course, some of the best transmission work is done by toothless hicks in small backwater shop, especially for your engine/car.

and that's no knock on hick car work. most of the time the best person for the job is the one who has been taking apart similar cars and engines wince they were young.

Btw I believe thats a manual clutch system in that car so, Id recommend a haevyduty clutch cable if you go centerforce. If it breaks you will get stranded. Happened to me using a stock cable in my stang.
