:mad Rant about industry.

I am fairly sick of a great number of aspects of this so called industry. I am fucking exhausted over how stealing is just part of the way things are done as long as you keep paying the people promoting you or at least give them some chance to win some new toy.

That is not good enough still though. May as well rip off the surfers whenever you can too. Charge them an arm load for sites that are not even worth a fourth of the fee, prey on their self esteems and sell them shit that does not work. Still want more? well thats also taken care of, just cross sell em, precheck the join pages, hide shit in the TOS and squeeze your dick deeper in their ass'es. Why should you care you are getting paid and will never meet these people plus if all goes as planed you will be retired soon anyways.

Need fast cash, well rip off another webmaster. Worst case is you can spin your way out of it or use fake info. Nobody will really care much anyways as long as you pay some of the people most of the time.

I especially like those sponsors who post a big announcement for a product that's in all reality, from every aspect, a piece of shit and the thread get's three pages of

"Way to go."
"Nice product."
"Congrats and good job."

I don't disagree with any aspects of your comments.

But as shady as some folks are...there's also the flip side of the coin. Those of us in the honesty and integrity category also have to endure rip-offs such as chargebacks, transactions processors that don't pay up - jerks who steal our copyrighted content and splash it up on their pages to make coin for themselves, site hackers, password traders, etc.

The industry has always been prone to a lot of butt-fucking...its just the nature of it.

I recall years ago when I worked as a video editor for one of Canada's largest adult vid distributors. Some of the lowlife stunts they pulled on a daily basis were mind boggling, not only to employees but also their retail customers. And they always got away with it all mostly because there was no industry watchdog they could be reported to. And they knew it.

Some of us definitely feel jaded at times, there's no wonder why. I would say, however, that there is good and bad in any industry and this one isn't all that much different. Just as we have people in our industry that are of low character, so does every other business. To the extent that affiliates tend to give so much business to so many programs that they don't know much about, that is suprising. You would think it's prudent to know who you are doing business with and how they treat the consumer but I bet that most affiliates have never seen the insides of the paysites they promote.

A lot of what you posted about is a great deal of what got me started.
Some member to one of my sites informed me that most of our exclusive content is being distributed and repackaged elsewhere. Needless to say it got me very pissed. Would love to drop names and all yet this of course has to stay very general. We have legal people that deal with this crap yet damage has been done.

Yep...been there/done that as well.

A few years back we found out about two paysites that were usin' our stuff - even displayin' it directly on their mainpages. So rather than simply send them a cease 'n desist email, I had my cousin (a top-notch Toronto attorney) help me put together a professional email filled with a lot of intimidating jargon and legalese - demanding monetary compensation based on 'loss of livelihood'.

It worked - both times. We ended up settling with the clowns for some tidy money within a very short time. One of the two guys even phoned me at 3am from Great Britain in a panic after receiving the initial email (he'd forgotten the time difference, lol). We later negotiated the settlement over the phone. Amusingly, the guy paid us in sterling pounds...although we had only specified it in USD.

Yep I do, go to any other industry and watch how cut throat people are, this is one of the few industries that you can hang out with your biggest competition and not worry they are plotting to fuck you over... Not to say that there are those that will, but in general much better than most...

Also, I find that people are much more straight forward than others in general.

The difference between this industry and others is the threshhold for entrance. Wizzo is right to some degree, however this industry accomodates those that barely get by, this is the main issue.

The funniest and most ironic part in this all is that many of you fight the powers that could make the entrance more difficult. I think back to processor registration fees for one shining example.

I have often said that adult domains should cost 1k per. It only takes a second to figure out how fast the tables would turn.

You don't open a bar that requires a 100k liquor license on a wimb and steal 2 consumers a month from a large club because you would not profit. But you do copy blogs and tgps because it barely cost you a dime and you can probably get the hosting paid for. ("you" is implied as general and not directed at anyone).

Jim is right about money not buying class. And it should be known that forums in this industry allow those with barely a clue to damage others reputations.

I was perfectly fine with the visa fee's and what not. Though this is only a small portion of the issues we face. Unfortunatly some of the major theft and other crap comes from companies and people with big pockets. I rarely have much trouble with the part timer webmasters taking our exclusive content and repackaging it then distributing it via another method. If anything the part timer webmasters who do steal content often just use it to promote other peoples stuff and that is easy enough to deal with.

As for the comment about forums and allowing unknowns to damage others reputations. It rarely matters. If I came out right now and said company A was ripping me off or something and I had proof. Somehow it still would get spun and either blamed on someone else like a rouge employee or outsourcer. Otherwise it would be twisted by those that think company A has been around way to long and are "stand up" guys etc. and I would be end up being the one getting flamed. Despite that I do have a fairly good reputation myself. Sad part is money, ipods, new gifts and so on buy peoples reputations.
