This is a rant email I wrote at work yesterday, this show is going to be in the "Howard" slot. They are currently running the show in the afternoons until he leaves.

Subject: Drew & Mel show


Are you guys kidding me?


I hope someone in the front office is listening to this train wreck. This has to be the WORST radio show I've ever heard, not only does Mel never have anything to contribute but Drew is well known to be the worst radio personality ever, he is a DJ not a host. As extremely gripping and compelling as wether or not they should play the "N" word during a tribute piece for Richard Pryor is, or Drew sucking up to the audience I finally had to have someone turn to another station. I only heard that part because I was too busy to get up myself.


The "marriage" promotion is quite possibly the tackiest and lamest idea I've hard in years.


I'm requesting that you change the name "O-Rock" to something more suitable like "Non-Offensive-Rock" I'd also stop giving away tickets to major concerts and maybe have "Soft Sensible Sweater Tuesdays" or something. The whole feeling this thing is giving me compares to sitting in a sexual harassment awareness meeting for work.


This this seriously what the alleged #1 rock station in a big city has to offer? Mel & Drew? and who in the holy hell is Silent Rob? He's like the guy you knew in school as the class comedian, but he forgot all his material years ago it seems but Drew is hooking his friend up. Holy crap the lineup just gets brutal!


Also while I'm thinking about is Drew going to use that cheesy 1980's DJ radio voice the whole time? yikes! Also will we be beating topics to DEATH everyday or just Mondays? I'd like to know what days I should take off work and sleep in. For the first time ever I'm ACTUALLY looking forward to hearing station breaks and commercials.


Please please please save your money and fire whoever thought this was a "killer" idea for the station as a follow up to Howard. I'll provide my services to you for free, I've been in a radio and media family all of my life and am willing to help out my community.


1. Pull the plug on ALL Drew & Mel (Nacho Pete, or whatever his name is) advertising and promotion, there I just saved you a TON.


2. Keep Drew & Mel (Skit Peters, or whatever his name is) together as a team though, because they both suck equally. I would put them at the 2-4am time slot on Sunday mornings.


3. Hire ANYONE off the street (and no you're not allowed to call the show "the zoo" or anything like it)


Now you have a chance, and if you still freak out just go with a syndication. Every college radio station I've ever heard sounds better then this trash your hyping.

PS... Stop using Wendy the Retard in your promotions, anyone that knows who she is or cares is going to Sirius, and your "talent" has no clue how to play off of her.

they are putting that asshole from van halen on during howards time slot here in NYC it's gonna blow who wants to hear that asshole talk for 4-5 hours every morning

i give him a month before they throw him off the air and replace him
