You need both obviously, but if you had to pick one, I'd say traffic hands down.

No traffic = no sales, period.
But you can always sell a shitty site, it might not sell well but you can still sell.

Choosing one over the other is silly since having one is worthless without the other.

u need both. content without traffic is pointless.. traffic without any thing to show is also pointless... they both scratch eachothers back.

Please point out where I said one would work without the other. I just said one is much more important than the other.

But isn't it ironic in a business that always complains about free content being the problem that some regard shunting the surfer around and trying to sell him shitty content as being an option.

Sell a customer a shitty product one, you run the risk of losing him all together. sell him a good product and you run the risk of selling to him again.

Look at some of the solutions in this thread and ask yourself why is free content so popular. Would you pay for some of the options being offered?
