SONY busted for paying radio DJs in 'pay for play' scandal...
http://www.latimes.com/business/la-f...home-headlines
In the past 10 years I've learned one thing. There is no business ickyer and dirtier than the music industry. They make pornmeistering look like Avon. The story above is a few weeks old because I read about it in my hometown paper as several DJs round there got busted in this sting. I love the Attorney General in NY. We've always had kick ass AGs going back to Bob Abrams. Yet this scandal takes the cake. I can't help but think of all the great musicians out there that couldn't get their songs on the radio because of shit like this. I remember in the 80s when independent stuff finally got some play and to this day those 80's indy stuff still kicks ass. Who knows what's being produced now that wouldn't see the light of day if it wasn't for the web and podcasts. |
