Trademarking a domain, ever do it?

Ever trademark a domain? Is it worth it? What does it costs?

Thanks
Joe

you can't trademark a domain as far as I know, the best you can do is trademark a word/phrase, like "yahoo" or "the hun"...

Yes you can trademark your domain - there are restrictions though:

You need a major law office to back you and it would behoove you to have them trademark your biz in the first place. Even big companies who have gone this route like Tiffany & CO. are having trouble retaining use rights when big players like ebay fucking use thier name to sell shit (tiffany knockoffs).

why would you bother?
I really don't see the advantages. But get a lawyer and ask them.

DomC - the only reason I would ever trademark a domain is if it was the mark that I use to do biz under and that business is internet only and susceptible to knockoffs/scraping.

I had a really good friend who runs one of the largest TGPs out there have a run-in with someone else that registered a name exactly the same as his mark and he sued successfully for loss of business and infringement - healthy award as I remember also

Tracking your Trademarks and Patents is intuitive and refreshing with http://Ipalert.com - screencap's are in the flash movie on the front door.
