You can do a trip to Thailand for 1/3 or less of the cost for accomodations, transportation, etc., that are being quoted here. Believe me, I've done it.

What hotels will people be staying at? What form of transportation? Since you don't list the hotels, I am skeptical, because you can stay in first class hotels in Thailand for a lot less than $50 a night (8 nights x $50 = $400).

They are flashing the hookers, but they are not included in the tour price. Nice bait and switch.

Part of the fun in travel is the adventure...just don't get conned before you even get on the plane (and watch out for their upsells in country since they already know you are a sucker).

Q'on is a good guy and he is clearly getting something good going for people to get there, it's all relative about the cost and yea it can be done cheaper and it's not like he's put this together overnight.

I would not think it would be wise putting hotels names and exact locations on a public board, but that's his call.

First class hotels, it varies and $50 is not first class in Bangkok it is normally around $100 plus for conrad, shang, amari or dusit think of all the logistics that have to be done by him to make a group go and get webmasters there.

If you want to go on your own and do the adventure then that's all cool, does not mean that is for everyone.

damn, you can't be this stupid if you've been here.... or maybe you like to live like a pauper, i dunno. each hotel is 5-star, transportation is reliable, comfortable & timely... similar tours are 2k+ ... we just aren't attempting to make a load of cash off our tour guests like many others are.

the whole purpose of going on a tour like this is to simply enjoy your vacation without the worries that come with going alone and the ability to enjoy a group experience (which is always more fun & interesting as everyone gets to share their stories with other tour guests). the first time i came was on a tour (more expensive than mine) & i'm glad for MANY reasons.

you say it can be done cheaper... sure it can. who is watching your back to insure you don't get fucked by sales vendors? hotel workers? who's giving you the street knowledge you will need to SAVE the dollars you seem to be holding on so tightly to? believe me, the thais KNOW you have money or you wouldbn't be in thailand... so even if you are trying to cut corners, unless someone guides you, ulimately you will occasionally get fucked & end up spending all that extra cash you saved by avoiding a fun, informative & care free tour.

so, feel free to go on your own... anyone can. i simply advise everyone to go at least once on this tour for that first experience & decide from that point on if thailand is for you. me? i don't fly 20+ hours to stay in some cheap ass hotel (which probably isn't that cheap to YOU cuz you'll be paying for guest fees, hotel fees & all at higher prices because you are ALONE). transportation? sure, you can jump on a crowded bus for super cheap... but why go thru the bullshit? let me take care of you and i PERSONALLY GUARANTEE you'll go home with a smile on your face & plans for another visit. ask the many webmasters who have been here & who live here... they'll tell you....

everybody and their moms knows we won't pay for your "entertainment" expensese and those costs will go up without assistance for those who are in the know. how the fuck is it a bait & switch when i will personally have one or more of these girls MEET YOU at the airport if you want? ... i can tell a fuckin dummy when i read 1... please stay off my tour... you need to grow up a bit first. thanks

I was not going to post anymore on this thread, but since you decided to respond to my post with a sleazy and pretty transparent sales pitch (instead of listing your hotels and other particulars), I am not going to remain silent and let that slide by.

Any legitimate travel agent can offer everything that you are offering (and probably more) without the huge mark-up. You will know exactly which hotels you are staying in, what sites you are to see, etc.

It doesn't take much common sense to get by in Thailand (there are tons of foreigners and English speakers there), and if you can't figure how to get laid in Thailand (if that is the main purpose of your trip - that seems to be all you are pitching), then you won't be able to get laid anywhere, and you shouldn't travel outside of your hometown.

Don't get me started on the kickbacks that tour services get for directing their pigeons to clip joints.

I hope all who choose your service are happy with it. All I am offering is a way for people to spend their money more wisely and have as much or more fun (I'm not offering my opinion in order to make money as you are).

this is not a sales pitch, its pretty much a sensible explanation to the reason one would need a tour for this type of trip. no, i'm not listing hotels & particulars and we have our reasons for that. you don't know those reasons as you are not the organizer & have no idea what goes into that & the care it takes to insure our guests come in with no problem and leave safely without issues. whethere you realize it or not, many of our guests have lives at home & publishing sensitive info can have an effect on that. anyone can feel free to contact myself or tony directly for this info.


we are not travel agents. we are tour operators. your travel agent will not be there when you arrive & they can't speak thai so you can't call them to assist you when/if you get in a jam. you're comparing apples & oranges.

I have been traveling my whole life and it is good to meet good people like him !

It takes time to really know a place and to be able to hang with a person with knows the in places ( the change so fast ) and knows a lot of the locals personally to get good deals makes a trip like this worth it !

To be honest and not to sound like a dick.....I will be spending more than $1500 when I am there. I like to have fun and I do not mind spending for a good time. So for me to bar fine a few girls in a night and buy a few souvenirs is not uncommon for me.

For what Qon is doing and the amount he is charging is what most webmasters doing business would spend in a day/night at Internext.

The smaller gathering of webmasters can bring in a lot more business than some of those major shows. So this can be a small investment that can turn out to be big business for a webmaster who attends.

Me and a couple buds were talking about Q last night in fact. He's old school... been in the biz as long, if not longer than me... If I were thinking of going to Thailand... I'd definately trust him to take care of me and show me the ropes.

First off, I am not cheap (I'm not sure how you arrived at that conclusion - as if being critical of someone who you think may be price gouging makes one cheap).

Secondly, I didn't get rich (and continue to get rich) by spending money foolishly on rip-off schemes.

If you are honest with yourself, and I believe you have traveled Thailand extensively as I have (I've made over a dozen trips in a 20+ year span), then you should realize that the prices Qon is charging for what he is offering are ridiculous (afterall, since he is "group booking" the locations, the price he pays to the facilities should be substantially lower than what he is passing on to people who pay for his service - if that's true, then he should have no problem disclosing the locations, etc).

I have no problem with Qon profiting from the difference between what he paid for group booking accomdations and the standard rates, but if he is charging far over market value, then yeah...he's ripping people off. In my book, stand-up guys don't do that (especially not to my fellow webmasters).

Any legitimate "licensed" travel agent I have ever dealt with has had no problem laying out my entire itinerary prior to me laying out a dollar (or baht in the case of Thailand).

I have refrained from all of the name calling and what not. That's unnecessary. Qon came spamming his "deal", and as one who has been there and done that, I simply called him out on it since to me it honestly seemed pretty outrageous.

My whole last trip to Thailand - all expenses - including airfare and hookers (which Qon doesn't cover) cost me less than $1,500, and I lived life large, not on the cheap as you and Qon keep implying.

BTW, I don't illegally photograph hookers in Thailand either. Instead I am so cheap that I spend upwards of $70,000 a year legally shooting here in California. It's not cheap, but the ROI (return on investment) is plenty to make it worth my while.

Anyway, I have no beef with you, and would in fact like to meet up with you some day Dugmor. I'm sure we would have some good stories to swap. Hell, cheap me, I'll even pick up the drink tab.

Same with Qon. I don't know you, so I don't dislike you, I am simply offering an alternative viewpoint for people to consider. This is an open forum as I recall, right?

If you want to lay out your intinerary for people, and show them what a great value you have to offer, you might even get more customers.

If on the other hand, if you don't want to show it because people will see that it's not such a great deal, and perhaps they are paying more for their accommodations than they would had they gone through another licensed travel agent, or you are stacking them double occupancy (not saying you do, but it's a common scam - making people pay double for single occupancy), then I understand your desire to say nothing while demanding money, and using fear tactics and hookers (that are not included in the expenses) as your primary pitch.

Thailand is a wonderful country to visit. There is much to see and do there. I encourage everyone to visit at least once (although after they visit once they will want to return again).

Fortunately there is more that one alternative for booking your stay...

this is a SERVICE that includes all costs minus entertainment... you can go with the service or without the service. some prefer the service because in the long run it will save them time, money & headaches. find another tour to thailand for less (as i've said before... again). you won't. that's what market research is about. most of them cannot offer what we offer & they may not be as familiar with the landscape.

Anyone considering booking a trip with your snake oil style of operation should seriously also consult a real licensed travel agent before plunking any money down with you.

A good travel agent can easily hook you up with personal guides/translators and the works. Plus they won't curse at you for asking which hotels you will be staying at, and what specifically is included in the fee that you are paying. Those are the tactics of hustlers and con artists.
