Tiresome Newbie Questions

I was thinking, it's even getting boring ridiculing newbie's stupid questions. Maybe we could create a "Stupid Newbie FAQ" for when they ask: 'How much money does a webmaster make?" or "Anybody know any good sponsors?" or "I need help getting traffic."

What are your favorite newbie questions, and what reply would you put in the FAQ?

For example, mine:

Q: "How much money does a webmaster make?" A: How much money does an accountant make? Well, how good is the accountant at accountancy and at selling himself? Some accountants make diddly-squat, others can afford a $2 million house and a $95K car.

Q: "Anybody know any good sponsors?" A: A sponsor can be great for one traffic stream and total shit different traffic. It's up to you to match your traffic to a suitable sponsor.

Q: "I need help getting traffic." A: Don't we all. And the traffic you're most likely to be able to get is probably the least productive.

I dont see why you get so pissed if someone ask how much money webmasters make..

It just as good as any other profession..
We know lawyers make more than nurses.. If we know how much an average webmaster makes, we can asnwer that question and add that some webmasters make 0 bucks while other make 1 mill bucks. Just like any other profession.

How much money does a webmaster make?

Yes it sounds like a stupid question, but is it really? He wants to get a clue if webmastering is actually a profession that can support full living. And maybe more. And yes it can.

Besides, if one has been in the business for 4 years or more, what makes him so special?

the fact that he was here before the other guy and he doesnt need to ask newbie questions? The truth is the newbie can be smarter than you and make more money after 1 or 2 years. And if you fucked with him when he was a newbie, I'm sure he'll remeber it

When you make tons of money with porn and maybe start playing stock market or something, and ask your friend, Hey what should I buy today? he sure thinks you're a newbie.

They do in average.

If we know how much an average webmaster makes, we can place that profession just among the other professions. And simply answer that question.

FAQ

Q: "How much money does a webmaster make?"
A: Depends if you're doing it part-time, maybe submitting a couple of galleries weekly, you could get a couple of hundred dollars monthly. However, you can earn up to any amount of money, but it requires a lot of time, talent and other things - just like any other profession.

Q: "Anybody know any good sponsors?"
Q: "I need help getting traffic."
A: Good questions. I suggest you start studying the various webmaster tutorials (link to tutorial1.com) and get some basic knowledge. then try out something and when you have basic knowledge and a little bit of traffic, there are lot of people who are interested in helping you with more advanved questions.

Was it so difficult?

Of course, and some lawyers make very little while others are fabulously successful. There is no "amount of money a webmaster makes." Gee, even in the salaried world a marketing man for a small company might make minimum wage whereas one working for a huge agency might make a million dollars.

I don't get pissed off when someone asks this, I just wonder if they thought about it before they asked such an idiot question.

So, if some webmasters make $0 and some make $1M, the "average" webmaster makes what? $500K?

You and I and most content providers make a lot of money for nothing out of these guys.

They know little about porn or the Net and think they can make money.

Every week we email a newsletter (NOT SPAM ) and every week we've lost one. site is down and they are gone. But we got their money.

SO DO NOT COMPLAIN

Here's a question, what's the average lifespan of a newbie on the Net?

Exactly . You got it. Assumed there are only 2 webmasters, the average is indeed $500k

Very simple math

from a newbies point of view:

i understand where you guys are coming from. but this doesn't apply to all newbies right? i've been on computers for a long time and seen mad newbies come and go. and i always try when i'm trying to learn something new to exhaust all printed sources before consulting someone else? i really hate asking questions of people because it makes me feel ignorant, and i can never tell what is a stupid question and what is not. well i dunno that's just me 1.5 cents lol

Smack it's ok to ask any question. I think the wrong approach would be trying to PRETEND you are more experienced than you are. Now that's what I call STUPID

Asking a simple honest question isn't stupid.

I agree with Sleazy, the questions are sometimes funny and have kind of.. hmm. entertainment value hehe, but whats the big deal?

By the way, IMO, webmasters who SERIOUSLY dont like newbies, are just afraid of COMPETITION.

nothing wrong with most newbies.. most people are "new" to some area of the business.. im certainly no fucking master thats for sure. but theres a difference between a newbie with an existing skill.. whether it be industry contacts, photography, design, marketing or whatever and joe blow who doesn't know shite about anything to do with any facet of the industry and wants help ftp'ing.... the sort who just want to try it for whatever reason.. different if they're "the money" and have an idea they want to try.. or they have an over-riding passion for the product and drive... still it can't hurt to have a GFYFAQ.. not that people will fucking use it.. look at spacedog. or any number of people that don't use the search function.. or any one asking about digital cameras lol..

Depends, I know 100's of people in the adult industry(Babenet,Cashquest, BLOW) in real life, yet I know none of the people on any of these boards. Have worked in the industry in real life since 97, but started doing the webmaster thing for myself when I saw the companies around me getting so rich, now I am a newbie again, although Ive been in the game for years....

Sucks, but who really gives a fuck. Learn, make money, and lend others a hand.

Hey Newbies, I'll be your friend. No question is stupid, even if it is and as long as you are actually learing and growing in the business, fuck all the neg shiznit. If some of these "veterans" actually had it going on they wouldn't have any time to be pissyannoyed on the boards nohow.
