Which part do you predict will form the next government in Canada?

I'm not asking about you you plan to vote for.

The question is... who do you PREDICT will form the next government?

Who do you think will win?

Make your selection in the poll, then if you're really daring I invite you to post your prediction below, so it's on record. After the election it will then be interesting to see who was in tune with the future and who was way way way out to lunch in a rowboat.

Giddyup.

Liberal Minority, Conservative opposition.

UNLESS, Steven Harper fucks up, shows his true colors and some moderates get a clue. Then we could have a SLIM Liberal Majority.

Because this is going to be a nasty campaign, I expect the Liberals to make numerous unflattering comparisons between Harper and Bush.

Party names were gathered from the Elections Canada website at the following page:
http://www.elections.ca/content.asp?...textonly=false

For the record, I predict the Libs will win a minority government again, after which we can hopefully move the hell on with our lives.

Like I said, vote for who you think will win, not for who you intend to vote for.

Duceppe will slip somehow and the Grits will make major gains in Quebec subsequently winning a majority.

The election won't change a thing. Liberals will go back in with another minority gov't. Sucks - but they won't get my vote.

That's not true of Quebec and unless the liberals take over a few block ridings, the map will much remain the same.

I'm hoping that Duceppe will declare something stupid like having snorted coke in the 90's so that he'll lose a ton of votes.

same bullshit. Conservatives are way to radical for Canadians (antiabortion, missile defence, support for Iraq war etc) and NDP is 2 steps away from Staline, so the majority of canadians will still vote Liberal.

Good post.

I think Harper might come out swinging and go for the jugular on all the so-called "borderline criminal activities" the libs have been indulging in, which could make him come off like a vindictive psycho.

In light of the results of the non-confidence vote tonight I'd say the libs really ought to start shuffling some people around. For one example I envision them really pushing Belinda Stronach (sp?) to the forefront and going for the whole "new direction" approach, not with party policy but as far as members go. That might placate a lot of Canadians.

And let's face it... a lot of Canadians are shit-scared of the Conservatives still,
the NDP doesn't have the leadership depth in place to lead this nation,
the only people who vote bloc are in Quebec,
and, well. all the other parties combined don't add up to enough to even form the opposition.

This may very well give the libs a majority in the end.

I think there has been only 6 winter elections and in every one the current party has been voted out.So if the stats stay that way I would say Conservative

I wouldn't go by past stats on this one. Several of those were held back when the PC's had at least an equal shot at winning elections. Ever since the "split" and the Stockwell Day and his "no-shit" party years followed by the big "reunion" and then Harper's penchant for a more pro-Bush/americanized health care system..... well ... when the picture's painted it shows me something many Canadians are still very leary about supporting.

Personally I can't wait for the debates in this campaign.

No idea -- the part with the greatest example of paradox within it -- a capacity for compromise and an immutable idea to measure against.

The key theme the Liberals must push to win, is that Stephen Harper is someone to be scared of, and not trusted with political power.

Stronach will be challenged for leaving the Conservatives and crossing the floor to join the Liberals.

The reasons she gives could be very damaging to Harper if released in the proper manner.

I don't trust the Conservatives, to me they they are no damn better than the liberals.
The NDP has never had a chance to run the country, I am not sure what kind of job the NDP could do, but it can't really be any worse than the other 2 parties that have always been in power.

I think the Liberals win this election, with most of Canada telling Harper and his Conservatives to Go Fuck Yourself.
I may be wrong though.

aren't they all crooks? I mean the tories are notorious crooks in most countries, the liberals have gone even further in scandels and wasting money? who else is there? NDP?

honestly now that we've discovered limestone deposits in alberta (why the fuck did it have to be alberta?!!!), on top of all the oil we should be the ones calling the shots with our neighbours to the south, not the other way round. But because the libs and tories are so needy its inevitable we'll just give all our resources to the yanks. serves us fucking right if that happens to, imho.
