Good bottle of wine for a gift?

Need to buy a holiday present for a few people and no idea what to get them. Thinking about a bottle of wine but I have no idea what kind they like etc. Sometihing mid range in price would be good. Any ideas?

Believe it or Not,

Kendal-Jackson 2003 Pinot for $12 is a quality bottle of wine.

If you check some online vineyards many do custom labels or engraving. That really looks and comes off as very special.

Just read an article about a site doing this online now,
PersonalWine.com.

One of the local wineries near here is doing that now, you bring your own label in and you can spend a few hours making your own blend and can then bottle it, minimum 6 bottle order.

Not a great wine but great for the "popular value" is Opus One. If you buy someone a bottle of that then they would know what it was even if they weren't big on wines. I'm not sure what a bottle goes for nowadays but I'm sure it's not more than $65.

JACK
And if they want to drink Merlot,
we're drinking Merlot.

MILES
(dead serious)
If anyone orders Merlot, I'm leaving.
I am not drinking any fucking Merlot!

JACK
Okay, okay. Relax, Miles, Jesus. No
Merlot. Did you bring your Xanax?

Go with Miles and the Pinot Noir.
