If it's true, which I kinda doubt, it's a huge blow to them. Devastating.

Very true. Not the second year so much as the second batch. Look at IPOD Nano, PSP, PS2, and now XBOX360 that had major issues with the first batch.

A relatively small number of crash reports does not mean they will issue a complete recall.

Every major new electronic product always seems to have problems. They probably always will.

Thousands of people testing out the product verses the select few hundred during the beta phase. It sucks, but thats how things work. Home computers today still have constant software and hardware problems even after what, 20 years of existence?

I suspect the PS3 will run into problems as well. Oh well.

It's not a small number and ANYONE can easily get it to crash on their own.

My PS2 didn't and doesn't have any problems, but this is not the point of the post.

reports have also said its the power supply, which isnt as big of an issue and wouldnt require the whole Xbox360 to be recalled. dont listen to the news, they tend to take bad news and blow it out of proportion. i would watch your short very closely, because your losses can be unlimited. visa reports holiday sales are up 14% over last year, which means lots of xbox sales (and lots of upward pressure on the stock). if the recall doesn't happen, or isn't as devastating as you think, as in they just issue new power supplies and there is already a quick fix by not leaving the power supply on the ground, you can stand to lose big.

your source would have to be pretty high up in the msft organization to have info like that before it comes out, as that is info that msft certainly doesn't want being leaked to the public until it comes out.

put options are a lot better than shorting a stock, when you're wrong your losses will be limited to what you spent on the options.

btw, there's no news on msft stock news, i'd watch that like a hawk tho.

i saw about 900 people in line at 5am when i was drunk as hell coming from the club at best buy waiting like sheep. keep that xbox 360. theres no way i'd buy one just for what the so called advancements are. i'll wait a year. everything will be cheap as hell, the bugs fixed, and the market flooded.

Which is a major problem in todays society. You have to be first!
If you wait too long and test your product properly, you will have less problems. But you will be second.
Todays society is running so fucking fast you just have to crank shit out.

I've had crappy luck. My PS2 was one of those that had the bad laser. My PSP was the one that had the pixel problem. I had some friends who got the first batch of nanos and had the cracking problem.

I think what is amazing is how little these products are tested. Wouldn't you test hundreds of these non-stop before making a huge launch?

you dont think they test them? a test is only as good as the testing process. and the bad many times echoes louder than it actually is. news reporters are looking for a story, i still havent read anywhere about the nominal complaints of the xbox. is it even over 100? the news story was originally taken from complaints being heard on gamer forums, and then a bunch of the news story places simply republished them.
