                                      They can't do whatever they want, really. Economically, they still need the US (and, to a lesser degree, Europe), and they know it - not to mention that they are no match for the US militarily. In fact, when pressured the right way they actually do budge.

                                      The combination of the free market and China is not something to fear, but rather something to - cautiously - welcome. It can potentially be both a benefit to the entire world economy, as well as a benefit to freedom and civil rights for the people of China.
