Question About Currency Conversions

Hi,

For those familiar with currency conversions i need to convert

UKP > United Kingdom Pounds (Sterling) into USD

However most online calculators only display

GBP > Pound Sterling

Are both those terms UKP and GBP the same thing? From what i can tell (i googled it - so don't flame me) it appears that they are interchangable - or one in the same - however I'm looking for confirmation or clarity.

Thanks!
