    Dmoz

What's up with the DMOZ editors these days?
I've made several submissions recently, with no listings, and not even one editor has responded.

they're lazy & alot of the editors there only became editors to flood the index with their own shitty crappy sites..

        What Spacedog said.

I actually got ahold of one of the editors on ICQ one day... He checked my submissions and said they didn't show up in the "reviewed" database yet, so I should just keep waiting. Those sites were submitted 6 months beforehand and now it's been almost 9 months without a response.

They're volunteers, so they work whenever they feel like it. Which seems like never! And DMOZ had the nerve to reject my application for an editor, bastards.

Just be sure to hand submit to Google, don't assume your potential DMOZ listing will get you there...

            Forget DMOZ
They list their crappy own sites and your sites wont even get reviewed.
You can get good link popularity without DMOZ

DMOZ or ODP> better known as the Un-Open Directory Project.

Try sending an editor a message. Wait two weeks, then try another editor either in that category or above it. Be sure to include your submission information and make it a good natured questions. Being polite doesn't hurt either

My next Traffic Talk column covers submitting to DMOZ and Yahoo

Since AOL dropped dmoz there is really no reason for most editors to even log in at all, not even for their own sites. There are a few search terms on netscape that do not have overture results on top and if your site is already in google the reasons for an editor to index their own sites are basically zero so why waste valuable time even logging in to your categories.

i second that,,,, its longer viable for major SE's to take ODP listings,,, they now focusing on PPC listings and have better software to have their listings,,,, times are a changing
