If you had to do a "real job" nowadays, could you cope with it?
Directed to the people here who do this for a living.
If you actually had to get off your backside and do a job (i.e. commute and do an office type role or manual physical type role). Could you do it or are you too much in the comfort zone now? Personally speaking...if I had to, I could do it but jeez...it would be a huge fucking shock to the system having to do a real job as it`s been a few years now. ![]() Thoughts? |

I actually have been working a "real job" as a programmer during the day, 3 days a week. It has made me work harder on my sites, if anything because it's been instilling some discipline that I was lacking from working out of my home for 10+ years.
Since I've been working the day job, my sites have become many times more profitable, and I continue daily to kick ass. Also, I find that leaving the house and interacting with people in a professional environment is keeping me from becoming a slobbering keyboard warrior with a lap full of crumbs and jizz. |

It's a matter of contentment. If you feel good having a "real job", then go for it. But if you're too free spirited that you don't want to be corporate slave, then you're free to do so.Nothing wrong with both, as long as you dont end up a bummer!

Having a regular job is not that bad of an idea. It gives you somethings that you would not normally have just working from home.
I have actually been watching for the right offer to come along. I have been working from home for 5 years, and I still dont think that I would have a problem with working in an office.

I always thought of this as a real job, just self employed.

![]() Seriously...you`re right. I suppose a job is something what you work at in exchange for payment so this of course comes into that category. |

It would be very hard since I'm already used to working for myself. The last time I worked for someone else was at the LA south bay office of a SF Bay Area-based venture capital company back in 2000. But I am adaptable and never hesitate starting from the bottom with nothing as long as the opportunity is worth it.

to be honest, i wouldnt mind a cool job. as long as i made decent money, i wouldnt mind one bit. as a matter of fact, i think it would be a refreshing change of pace for me. not to mention, health benefits, 401k, paid vacations.
it'd be nice not sitting on my ass 12 hours a day. but i hate driving in the snow, so working from home in the winter months is awesome. but come summertime, i hate being indoors!!! |

im in college so that are my days working with other peeps... but i really cant get out of bed early. The thought of doing a 8 to 5 job every day is absolutely not appealing.

What I do is a "real job" and I do have to go to an office on most days. Why do you think what we do is not a "real job"?

That in itself means I have the freedom to allocate my time etc. wherever I wish (family, work, going out etc.). If I working in a generic type job, then most of my current rules would go out the window hence the term "real job" In reality I work far harder and longer nowadays than I probably ever have in my working career but...my choice. ![]() |

Every opportunity that knocks at my door I would consider. Working for myself or another doesn't really bother me as long as its my field of interest and compensation is good.
Right now, I'm on a 9hr/day job and I enjoy it since i get to meet people and learn alot from it. |
