I would say a 98% chance it will be legal in the usa (or certain states) within 10 years.

All the major casinos in Vegas are planning for this, or already have deals with casino mgmt. companies in the Uk, offshore, etc

The biggest reason it hasn't happended yet is lobbying by the Vegas people, some politicans, etc.. Mostly the casino industry doesn't want to lose customers right now...

i will be shocked if the u.s. opens its doors to online gaming. the billions are already out there with the foreign gaming peeps and the opposition could stall away. it would be sweet for u.s. business to go out and get some that business and also regulate fair software etc...

I wouldn't be shocked at all, only shocked if it happens sooner then 10 yrs or so.

The point is - they see the billions spent overseas and want a share of that. They of course are worried ppl won't come as much to vegas to gamble, see the shows, etc, etc. It will work out. and regulation will be just fine with me..

i remember people getting excited about bingo and horse racing a while ago and can only imagine what would happen if poker and gaming were legal in the u.s. online. i guess my lack of faith stems from how obvious the benefits are and how it being so obvious brings in my lack of faith in the majority. it seems like such an easy call that it will not be made and while u.k. et al. companies get valuations in the billions within a couple of years, u.s. businesses will stuck on the fringes. it just keeps happening --

edit- have there been any recent gov't legal actions against online gaming in the u.s.?

visa/mc and bank stuff is one thing - is the gov't enforcing?
