:mad Fuck Dell

Has anyone else had an issue with the Dell Inspiron 5160 constantly going on battery power and refusing to recognize that it's plugged into the AC adapter?

1. They replaced my motherboard about 3 months ago (had to send it in and had no lappy for like a week) and

2. They just sent me 2 new AC adapters.

That worked for about a week, but now its the same crap with the battery refusing to charge and not recognizing that it's not operating on battery power, not AC power.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas? I don't want to have to send my laptop in. I have a desktop of course, but I use the laptop as my main machine.

I've had 4 dell laptops the last 5-6 years, never had any problems with any of them.

I have nothing but Dell. The only problem I ever had with a laptop was when the "D" button broke off. Dell overnighted a new keyboard. Problem solved.

I honestly don't think it's the battery. The battery works fine and sometimes if I jiggle the AC adapter cord, it will then recognize that it's plugged in.

I'm so pissed at this piece of SHIT!! Their support is friendly, but if they haven't fixed my shit in two tries, what good is the friendliness?

To make matters worse, my uncle is an exec at Dell.

I had an Inspiron and the motherboard fried after 13 months of use, and I used it about 3 hours a week, that's it. Won't turn on no matter what I tried. Dell said I could replace the mb for $700 but also told me Inspiron was the cheapest of their models and not for long-term use. Didn't think a few hours a week at most was a lot of usage.

Bought a better one and still have the old one, a gig of ram sitting there, a nice door stop.

My warranty is up in January '06, so whatever it is, I want to get is straightened out before then. I use my lappy pretty much exclusively. I guess I need to get on one of those hahaha promos for a new one.
