Is there anyone else feeling anxity about the crowds at vegas this year

last year the last day of the show was the first day of ces - it was INSANE - crowds were beyound imagine- this year INTERNEXT is at the same time.

some people love that - NOT ME. I can't handle big crowds like that - min hour wait for a cab or limo in a line. need reservations a month in advance for a nice restrauant - 3 months in advance or more for shows.

no disrespect to AVN - they have always been good to me but this year
I don't think i'm gona go. I CANNOT handle big crowds. I'm not good in big crowds and CES is the mother of all crowds.

I'm going somewhere warm instead at the same time - dominical republic. was SERIOUSLY looking into it today - i think i will book tomorrow. i can get a direct flight from winnipeg to there and that rocks.

enjoy vegas folks - i'm going to the beach. I'm going scuba diving. I'm going quadding, I'm going to the pool, I'm gona RELAX, I'm going clubbing with WOMEN! (vegas will be mostly men as CES is in town)

yes this means I will NOT be throwing a TGP party this year at vegas.

I havn't asked CCbill yet but If ccbill will let me I think I will throw something along that line in Phoenix.....

i have had a LOT and i mean a LOT of interest from serious players in the industry to join me and i'm open to that.

I am NOT doing a convention. I'm not planning any events - that would be disrespectful to AVN and they don't deserve that. This is NOT a convention. I think internext is a great show and anyone looking at making it in this business should go to vegas.

but if anyone else who's made it and doesn't need vegas and can't handle the crowds wants to join me in the domininican they are welcome and I will post the hotel I'm staying at so people can holiday with me and who ever else comes.

Sleazy...that is to bad you are not coming to the show as i told you before. We (Smashbucks)are still new to the show deal and have still a ton of "branding" and creation of biz to do...

This year we have one of the largest booths on the floor, and will be broadcasting live from the show, 3 camaras rolling and the ability to select what you want to watch and when....its to bad cause i wanted to see you in front of the camara etc. This stream the the booth is a joint effort between Legendary Lars/Adult Friend Finder and Smashbucks, in conjunction with AVN.

I guess if i did as many shows as you have for as many years, maybe i would feel the same way, but at this point...crowds or no crowds there is biz to be done and smashbucks goes in feet first ....

Smashbucks has been in biz for now 5 years and going to shows for almost 3 years, the fun is still there and to weather the crowds for a short time seems not to be that big of a deal to us.

Vegas since i was a kid was and has always been and "action" busy place on this earth, its Vegas!

Will miss you this year in Vegas, but you and everyone else can watch the live stream from where ever you are in the world in real time from the showroom floor. lol

Yep. First Vegas Internext /IA2000 I'll have missed in 7 years. Scheduling it on top of AVN and CES was incredibly stupid on their part. All of the sponsors and vendors who feel like they need to be there are going to be pissed when no clients bother to show up.

Back in the day the show was in late January which was great, then some 'genious' decided it needed to coincide with ces and all hell broke loose. I understand they were trying to get more 'walk in' traffic for their vendors but JEEZ

GET A CLUE AVN -
we (the INDUSTRY people that are the lifeblood of the business) do NOT want to fight the overwhelming crowds
we do NOT want to pay 10 times normal prices for hotels
we do NOT like the long waits for taxis and limos

its been expressed by practically everyone for many years yet still it falls on empty ears *sigh*

If at first you do succeed - try to hide your astonishment.

I have already booked and paid and I have been considering selling my room off and skipping this year.

Ultimately I will go, but I am with you Scott. I hate big crowds and long lines and this is a poor scheduling choice for INternext.

A lot of folks are going for a day or two towards the end of the show then staying for a few more days to enjoy Vegas after the crowds thin.

I said from day 1 of the date announcement that having it during CES was going to be a royal PITA. All hotel rooms (except Venetian which I believe has been booked for a while) are outrageously priced and getting a cab or restaurant reservation will be tough.

Time to take your party buses and black AMEX cards so you can get around and eat!

Seems like the Costa Rica bash is catching a lot of people's attention.....i can already see a lot of my webmaster friends dropping off vegas and opting for the costa rican bash instead !

I'm not dreading the crowds, but I'm certainly not looking forward to them either.

After Florida, I don't recall hearing as much complaining as there was beforehand-I could be wrong, I just don't recall it.

However, when scheduled dinners are missed, and impromptu plans are made to wait over 2 hours for a cab, not to mention the restaurant wait times, I predict there's gonna be a LOT of complaining after Vegas.

absolutely agree with you my friend - and like Sleazy I intend on missing Vegas this year - first for what you mention in your post but also the price for one show can net me 2 or 3 other shows in 2006 that in my opinion can be more effective.

I love AVN dearly, and have been visiting Vegas many times in the years I have been in this business, but my gut is telling me the same thing - going to be more complaining and swelling of missed meetings and lost souls who I'll miss

I dont think Avn really cares about internet adult , they dont have the power as they have with the video side. Now with Xbix producing a real industry mag they are really not needed. The Webmaster Accesses and the phoenix show seem like the strong shows to be at. Im hoping we will be at phoenix in 2006 .

i am not doing vegas strickly because i can't do a huge party and ces has fucked the whole economic vegas environment for the entire week. i'm not gonna pay the ridiculous venue prices to do bump n' grind or another event that i could normally do for 30k or so. and the hotel rates. even motel 6 is charging almost 300 a night

seriously, like sleazy said, nothing at all negative towards avn, they have been very good to me too, but ces really fucked up my game this year. i still may fly into vegas the 3rd day of the show stay overnight with someone, (because rooms will be all gone), and fly out the next day, but thats doubtful.

i think that the ces thing really mucked up the whole town of vegas pretty much with all three shows at the same time. i coulda handled both the expo and internext at the same time, but ces is way too much for me.

i budgeted out what it would cost to take 5 people to vegas in january and compared it to other options. the difference is astronomical. basically i could take 10 or more somewhere else have suites instead of regular rooms, and go just buck crazy wild having a good time sparing no expense. i am seriously looking to the dominican thing possibly if i can get some of these big projects off my desk working through the holidays. i committed to alot of things that i must finish before the end of the year.

this will be the first vegas show (if i don't fly in and out for just one day) that i will miss since 99. i am ecstatically looking forward to costa rica and other options this year.

i have friends at avn and i have talked with them candidly about this show. they support me and i will support them where i can, but its not gonna happen this year for me. yeah, i know i ramble. my bad.

Florida was great business for us and yes it's true there are thousands of people in Vegas but that also means NEW business and that's what these shows are all about.

I must agree Phoenix is the perfered show for most of us, and yes we will be there as well.
