Topbucks.com .. giving Gilette shaving tips

I have this really great idea that I got from TOPBUCKS.COM . I will start an 80% revshare program. I'm still working out the figures in my head, and I was wondering if anyone could offer input.

Ok, I will start with 100% of the revenue.

100%
- 15% (processing fee)
-------
85%
- 10% (content and bandwidth)
- 10% (staff)
- 05% (miscellaneous overhead)
-------
60%
-80% (what i will pay webmasters)
------
(-20%) NET PROFIT

Wow.. these numbers are great. At this rate I will be as rich as topbucks really soon!

I wonder how they can afford to throw those lavish parties... they couldn't possibly shave. No respectable webmaster program in the adult industry shaves! Everyone knows that.

I hope my naive vision of integrity and honor isn't tarnished by my guileless aspirations to emulate the trend setters <sob>.

I'm fully aware that on this board exists a plethora of creativity and insightfulness.. so by all means offer your insights into this balance sheet mystery

Processing fee of 15% huh? you can save up to 11% by getting a merchant account yourself and do massive volume on transactions. even on low numbers 6% shouldn't be too hard.

Still making loss...I agree but not 20% anymore

Topbucks uses Epoch, which probably charges them around 12%. The numbers still don't add up. This was my point. If anyone wants to shed some light, please do so.

you dont do your math right.

100% of $44.95

$44.95 x 12% = $5.34 for processing

$44.95 - $5.34 = $39.61

$39.61 x 80% = $31.68

Webmaster gets $31.68

They get $7.93 per member

Plus they can upsell the user to another site of theirs or sponsor, since they honestly don't have a big incentive to keep the member around but they do know the person has a credit card and buys memberships.

My numbers may not be 100% but they are pretty close.

I'm not saying they shave, but if they do then there is extra profit.

consoles, email boxes, upsells within the member's areas, oh yeah, and most likely (and a pointer to you ambitious types who are eager to spread your newbie seeds into the relam of paysite ownership) their own generated traffic....not sure about topbucks, but the 80% may only be on cc signups and not dialers and check signups

shaving on a % program? hahahahahahahahaahahaahahaha, you guys crack me up sometimes, really you do...

heh which puts them back in the negative percentages.. and means that if you're going to correct someone's math you'd want to make sure you read their post thoroughly.

but as mentioned.. consoles and upsell.. it's amazing it's come to this..

Hm.. consoles and upsells.

Say I convert 1:300 with them.. they lose $8 off me (going on previous #'s), and their consoles convert 1:1000.. They get 1 exit sign up for every 3 I send them (Keeping it simple -- assuming member stays active one month, subtracting processing fee and aforementioned figures [12% processing, 10% bandwidth/content, 10% staff]), they make $27.20 per exit sign up, but lose $24 off me (3 sign ups to me per one exit sign up they receive). So they're making $3.20 profit after all that? I'm still perplexed how they can throw those suite parties.

If these #'s are confusing, I will write it in an easier to understand format:

80% revshare program exit consoles:

- (minus) $8 per webmaster sign up

+ (plus) $40 for every 3 webmaster sign ups (Webmaster converts 1:300, exits convert 1:1000)

- 12% processing, 10% staff, 10% bandwidth = $27.20 per exit.

3 webmaster sign ups = $24

$27.20 (exit revenue) - $24 = $3.20 net profit

(These are very basic #'s and of course it would depend on whether they were sending their traffic to another sponsor, who in turn shaves them, etc).. And it's noteworthy to mention that assuming exits convert 1:1000 is a bit idealistic.

your perspective is from one webmaster,,,, you have to look at the big picture,,,,

i'll assume that they'll get
100,000 hits to all there sites
convert 1 out 500 (4.95 trial)= 200 sign ups= $990.00
webmaster payouts 200X35= $7,000

money of consoles estimate 40,000 clicks to other sponsers from consoles
convert 1 out 500(35 per sign up)=$1,142

and lets not forget the current memberships,,, but my estimate is they have 50k of members,,, and at $44 a bucks a pop,, with average membership lasting 2 months,, well then thats pretty good numbers

How do they turn a profit? Simple. They're playing the volume game.

Well they're obviously doing it, so they must have figured out how.

I'd imagine they're doing quite a bit of upselling in the site and popping consoles that you don't get paid on.

I could be wrong, though, I haven't checked out their program so if I'm wrong....ehhh...who cares?

I think it's the upsells and consoles that make it profitable.

It all relates back to your visitor sent to $ you get ratio.

You test different programs and ideas and whichever earns you the most you go with. Some it will be with per signup others recurring etc.

Donny what's the URL of your site? I'm inspired by your wisdom I think a lot of us can learn from you. Show us your site since I noticed in your intro that you would like to share experiences

Well? I'm kinda curious what a smart man like you runs for a site?

The short answer is that 4pics, fatpad and quoth the raven are all correct; the answer is upsells and volume. It's not a matter of shaving at all - there's more than enough money to be made playing it straight. It's simply a matter of paying for traffic/members once, and then finding multiple opportunites to sell to them.

Some webmasters might find it unfair when their sponsors have upsells that they (the webmaster, that is) aren't making money from, but that's how programs like TopBucks, Platinum Bucks, SilverCash, etc. can afford to pay $40+ per signup, 60%+ recurring and $50+ per active member.

Make sense?

I can't get my traffic to buy more than the trial with topbucks.
It's the only sponsor I have this lack of sales other than trial with.

Ummm

hehehe

You forgot to add hold back into the equasion to isnt it around 6% hold back for 6 months

anyway you forget that they keep all recurring as well you never get any of that on a per signup deal that when the numbers game can get fun

so if they have a 50% retention rate

off of 200 signups they payout 40 dollars a piece = $8000
they take in on the sale of 39.95 X 200 =$7990
take out the 10% processing Fee -$799 = $7191 (10% because the more you process the better deal you get )

so they are down roughly 809

figure the average surfer thats a member cost lets say $4

so 200 surfers X $4 thats $800 so now they are at $6391
and down $1500

Who knows how often they update and how much we will pass that for a sec

with 50% retention next month they are going to gain $3596 after fees that the affiliate will never get this will offset the 1500 down

do this in much bigger numbers and it makes sense for a program to pay out per signup

we havnt even added in the upsales and exits sales

Ill stick with partnership its a WIN WIN situation
