Johnson, who is unemployed, told cops that she was "never popular with classmates in high school," and the house parties--which ran for a year--left her "feeling like one of the group." 30 years for that? That sentence is disturbing and the judge who gave that sentence should be re-evaluated.

A fair sentence would've been alcohol training courses, 2 years probation, 1 year house arrest, and 300 hours of community service along with monthly drug tests during the probation period.

The prosecutor should also be ashamed of himself for allowing such a sentence to be given.

I don't think half the judges in this country are competent enough to do their jobs. Sad day for the criminal justice system.

I'm not in anyway saying that what she did was a good thing but back in high school we all would have loved someone of age to buy our alcohol for us, supply us with cigs and pot etc. It would have made it easier for us at the naive age of 15, 16... sure she would have been the "cool mom" but it's way naive of her to think that high school kids would keep that quiet, most kids that I knew growing up would have bragged about it, word would have gotten out easy, they're kids they don't know any better, or long term effects, etc.

I think 30 years is a little steep but she was charged with multiple felony counts and there were plenty of witnesses and lots of evidence so it was an easy conviction, unlike with other felony crimes (murder, rape etc.) where people think that the suspect got off too easy, usually because there were little to no witnesses and very little evidence. Without that, "beyond a reasonable doubt" is hard to achieve. This was just an easy conviction for the prosecution with a couple years for each felony count.

Actually, it's kind of nice, because the opportunity is always there for anyone to head up to the local highschool, pick a face from the crowd, and bring them home for some nasty afternoon delights! Teens are going to have sex anyways... why shouldn't it be with you?

And if any of you take issue with my opinion... maybe you should try and lobby my government to change the laws of consent in my country -- until that happens, you can't blame people for legally enjoying their freedoms!
