I disagree. I think the internet is not brand-blind, it is full of micro-brands -
very narrowly defined sites which people feel are credible in a single topic.
Like www.sleepinginairports.net . People wouldn't buy airline tickets on the site but people trust it in if they have a long layover in Charles de Gaul airport.
For our brand, I think
1) everyone knows what it is
2) many people associate Penthouse with growing up
3) people feel more trusting that they won't get hidden cross sells or other bullshit which they hate and makes them go cancel before they enter the members area.
If even 1 guy in 500 is more likely to buy a membership with us because he trusts the brand, and the tour is otherwise just as good -> that is a significant increase in conversion rate.
I remember you posting good things about Vivid when they launched their program, and we had a much better earnings per click on other adult brands than the big webmaster programs.
Brand is peoples' preconceptions before they hit the tour. Penthouse by definition has part of the sale already done when the person clicks.
