thanks man, and it really sucks because the site is only a Fantasy football message board i made for my family & friends, so it doesnt make me any $$$ but it just makes me feel so fucking violated

and also makes me worry about how secure my shit really is

just be thankful it wasn't your main site, also get your host to look into it asap and find out exactly how your box was compromised so that they don't do the same thing to your other sites..

Yes, they send out bots just looking for PHPBB and then take over your box... it's got more security holes in it then the White House.

VBulletin is way better, but make sure you keep up with the updates & patches.

just a friendly reminder don't leave your permissions 777 for the most part and make sure /tmp has proper permissions. for god sakes simple security can go a long way. oh and don't run apache as room. MMkay?
