Monitor recomendations & suggestions
I was at staples and office max today shopping for monitors. I ended up leaving empty handed because I wasnt so sure what to pick.
there were some reallyn nice ones. I want a nice slim flat one. Anyway, there was this really nice widescreen one I want, but I got confused. Would working on a widescreen monitor fuck me up when designing a page? the one I have now is an old crt 17" 800x600. I was just thrown off on how a webpage looks in widescreen. What happens to a page set at 800x600 when viewed in large widescreen, does it stretch like wallpaper does on a desktop? anyway, I am going to check out bestbuy & circuit city tommorow. Any suggestions or recomendations. OH, is anyone willing to post a screencap of a 800x600 page displayed in widescreen. thanks |

No it doesn't stretch the page out. That only happens in games where is distorts to fit the full screen. It's just having extra pixels on the width for more space when looking at webpages pictures etc. Just get 2 normal flatscreens and have them in dualscreen you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

wow, that's alot of extra space. I wonder now, how many surfers use this size. that's alot of extra space. I checked out epassporte-payout.biz for a comparison to the posted image & damn, that is alot of extra space on the sides of the centered content.
I was thinking of splurging the cash for a big widescreen so I can put it up on the wall, then add a wireless keyboard & mouse, and I can work from anywhere in the room instead of this cluttered corner. when viewing in a larger screen at larger res, is size compensated for? I'm not certain I worded this right, but.... lets say site x is set for 800x600 & has font of 10pt now, how small is that going to look on a large wide screen w/ a res of 1024+ I know when I change the res on my computer settings to 1024 on this old crt it looks pretty darn tiny. |

It all depends on the size of the monitor. I run 3 19" monitors next to each other [which brought out the above pic] so not really a 'widescreen' as such but on 17/19" 1280x1024 is the ideal resolution. If you've got cash pouring out of your arse pick up a Dell 24" widescreen.
