My telnet connection timeout is very short...it always kicks me out...

How do I set telnet session time longer?

aflex, the sshd daemon is configured via the sshd_config file universaly... at least for openssh, and such variants

what distro?

on bsd* /etc/ssh_config

or just do a "man ssh_config":
(.../...)ConnectTimeout
Specifies the timeout (in seconds) used when connecting to the
ssh server, instead of using the default system TCP timeout.
This value is used only when the target is down or really
unreachable, not when it refuses the connection.

It might also be a firewall on your network is killing your session.
It used to be like that for my techs.

I turned on "KeepAlive yes" in /etc/ssh/sshd_config file?

is this good enough?
do I have to restart server?

it's not firewall, because I can connect to other servers and stay alive for a long time...

for any changes made yes you will need to restart. sh /sh /etc/rc.d/sshd restart

altho KeepAlive is defaulted to yes... do you not have a tech managing your server for you?

I just restarted the sshd, but still it kicks me out

if you were connected via ssh and then restarted the sshd daemon... you'd get kicked out anyway...
