$1-$2 for each qualifying lead. I Need T-shirt Advice & Suggestions.

lots of typos ahead:

Real simple:
I need T-shirt Advice, Suggestions and Guidance. Need Experts, Gurus, Wholesalers, Webmasters, etc and I'll pay $1-$2 for every bit of info I can use.

Not so simple:
I have at least 50 "different" Tshirts to produce. I would like to use a service similar to CafePress for "Print on Demand" options, but want to compare services out there. Can anyone recommend any online service to use. Has anyone had good or bad experiences with a certain printing company? Who to use? avoid? Do you use CafePress or one of their competitors? any service that allows printing on black tshirts, though not a requirement, I would like this option? anything? everything? I think I recall a few tshirt gurus or tshirt printers on GFY. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm currently checking out Zazzle.com, PrintMojo.com, and a few others. and yes, I've already used Google and GFY's search engine... and I've already posted on a few mainstream boards with lackluster results or countless cafepress suggestions I just wanted some up-to-date opinions and personal recommendations. and please no recommendations to buy actual "T-shirt Printers" (i.e. No Printer Dealers) I've already looked at the $10,000 Fast T-Jet, I'm not interested, I'm not trying to start a large-scale operation yet... though I wish I had bought tshirtprinter.com when the domain dropped recently... could have used it for bartering purposes.

I'm not trying to be TshirtHell, or anywhere near that scale yet, but need tshirts for my mainstream & adult businesses. I really need insight and don't want to waste anymore time, so, I don't know if this has been done on GFY before, but I will pay for leads/recommendations:

I will send $1-$2 paypal (no epass) for good suggestions/ideas for online printing companies to use, preferably "print on demand options." I may even consider custom offline print shops. But, I decide what lead is worth the $1, and decide when I've had enough leads, no duplicate suggestions, though. Not going to drop more than $50-$100 on leads. If I believe your feedback/advice is unique and helpful, I'll still pay even if you didn't offer up any solution who to use... perhaps you have horror stories, what to avoid, etc.

Even if I still end up using CafePress, I'll still pay for quality info/leads so I'll know I've done my due diligence.

If I choose you, I'll just quote you and type in "worthy", then it's your job to post your paypal address (make sure it's not adult-related.) if you'd prefer to email me your paypal info, that's fine too.

If you would like to email me your suggestions because you'd rather keep it private:
dev^(AT)^DomainNews^(.)^com

subject: T-Shirt

(and no, the T-shirts aren't for DomainNews.com, I'm just checking that email address regularly now.)

I'm always online & on GFY, so I'll be checking in regularly. Thanks in advance.

and MODs if you have a problem with this thread, I apologize in advance, just wanted to let people know I'm serious and here to do business, if you need to move it to another forum or close it, I understand... but who knows... maybe other webmasters will benefit from this thread too.

1. Cafe Press t-shirts fade after 3 washes, and they don't allow dark garment printing.

2. www.99dogs.com does allow printing on dark garments but at $18 a piece.

3. Buy yourself your own screen printing setup. It will be worth it in the end. Check them out on E-Bay.

4. keep your money.

good luck

edit:
I have at least 50 "different" T-shirts to produce in various quantities, not just one of each.

is this for people to order or for you but you dont want to buy in advance?

mabye you can work a deal with a local tshirt shop to print them as you go. screens cost around $20 each at most places, if the shirt is multi color or has printing in different spots it costs that many screens. mabye you can get a local place that really needs the business to keep all 50+ screens on hand and print the shirts for you as you need them.

like it was posted before, dont buy cafe press. i'm pretty sure those are iron ons and not screen printed. iron ons are crap and if you really wanted you couple probably make those on your own computer.

WORTHY $1.

mixed: some for people to order, some for giveaways. will contact local shops. and no, not really looking to buy in advance so I can expand my line on the fly, anytime. but won't rule out any option yet.

Anyone have an idea who some of the small-mdsize companies like Jinx.com, WickedJester.com, etc use? I'm sure once you're large enough, you can go in-house, but I'm also sure CafePress can't be best/only option.

There really is a much much easier way to do it, if anyone is interested hit me up ill explain it to you. Screeprinting is a messy expensive business that you need a good amount of equiptment to do properly. Some of the chemicals are toxic and flamible and the ink is a freaking mess. Plus if you do not cure them properly they ink will wash off. Most printers will print the shirts for you for .50 or less if you supply the shirts and screens

very interesting... I'll make a list of contacts that fall into this category... it'll be great to network with everyone. Did you sell the business? Because you mention they still buy from you, but you also say you "owned"... just curious....

$2 WORTHY, if you want it.

Had not considered the first part about toxicity/curing, never crossed my mind. I definitely want to avoid that. last part is very interesting.

cafepress is in the process of allowing black tshirts now. I seen someone mention that they didn't. They just launched that feature this week. Sounds like you will be able to sell them very soon. (you can work on the designs now)

I make about $900 a month off of cafepress webmaster referrals alone, so the tshirts can't be all that bad. I ordered three of my own designs a month ago and they didn't turn out too bad. I have only washed them once so far though.

In case anyone wants to sign up:

Cafepress

$1 WORTHY.

Thanks for the info. When I called them, they said it would be sometime next year, maybe my rep was ill-informed. Thanks. I'm calling them right now.

Hilarious... talk about timing, I called the rep 2 days ago at CafePress and haven't checked back since and then they posted this:

Black T-shirts are here - for design only
We're EXCITED to announce that Black T-shirts are now available for you to start designing. Yes, that's right...BLACK T-shirts are here!
Start cranking out those designs! The Black T-shirts will be "Design Only" to start. When will they go live? In just a few weeks... We will keep you all updated on when they are ready for to go live.

Check out the new Designing for Black (& dark) T-shirts forum where you can get help and tips for designing for Black T-shirts.

Ask and you shall receive. LOL.

Still looking for other options.

On their FAQ it says "within the next few weeks". Keep the $1. I would only blow it on jujubes.

I sub them out, much easier taking a small portion. I sometimes have transfers made ( hot rip plastisol transfers), if these are done right and you know the proper technique you get the same result as direct screenprinting but with a transfer and heat press. You have a much smaller footprint, no real mess, just in time delivery, no inventory of multiple printed shirts, all you need is to have blank shirts in assorted size and color on hand and print as you need. My Mom still presses most of the bikers shirts and go to the swap meets to sell them to dealers or setup a stand and sell them herself. She will do 2-3 grand a show in sales.

I use cafepress for my poker site t-shirts... I've ordered 2 myself and they sem ok after several washes. Havn't had any complaints from customers yet either.

For all the serious GFYers out there: I can always use a few more leads.

and for those of you that didn't want your $1-$2, I'll just paypal it to the EFF instead. I would paypal it to FSC, but there online donating looks is down. Hey, every dollar counts.
