New review site

http://www.pornsitereviews.co.uk/request.php

Well I think Im finally there - the review site code all seems to be working as I hoped so now I gotta get some reviews to do so the site has something meaningful when I launch. Please feel free to submit your site(s) AND also (constructively) critique to your heart is content!

Thanks

J

Your form is pretty extensive. How about an e mail address where I can simply e mail you

We are using the form as it gives us the info we need to be able to form a review, it makes sure that anyone submitting a review has a link back to us and ensures that the webmaster has accepted our terms and conditions before the review is received all of which are vital for us.

Which parts of the form do you think are unnecessary?

e46 - well, do you think many owners will sub their sites - I like review sites as a concept - dont get me wrong - but to say in the "terms" that you

a) want a recip

AND

b) MAY say the site is CRAP.......

I mean - do you have any traffic to chuck at it for a starters?

Just wondering.

I have no idea if many owners will submit their sites or not - only time will tell I guess.

The whole idea of the recip is that it helps to get traffic and good search engine placings for the site therefore, in theory, is good for everyone.

I cant force someone to have a recip but if their review is good and they dont have a recip then I will suspend the review - if their review is crap then they can remove the recip by all means but that doesnt mean I will necessarily remove that review if that makes sense!! The idea of any review site is to tell it like it is so if a site is shit we are gonna say it is shit - simple as. Easy solution for any webmaster is either dont submit crap sites or dont have crap sites in the first place!!

The final point on traffic - yes I do have traffic but I dont see the point in sending traffic to a review site which doesnt have any reviews yet. Kinda chicken and egg syndrome I guess - I need reviews to make the site worth visiting. I *could* buy in reviews from third parties but I think that would be cheating so am gonna spend a few weeks trying to get submissions and get a portfolio going and then I can launch the public side of the site.

Thanks for the feedback!

Might be tough to get a lot of submissions in the beginning but in the end it will pay off especially for the surfer who you want to cater to. It'll be nice to see a true review of porn sites and not a review based on what the pay site owner wants to see. Maybe you can do a few reviews and put them up so people that will be submitting sites can see what to expect. Just make a sample review page.

Fair cop for sure - good luck with it.

Yes - a page containing a "completed review" as a sample for the target site owners may help.

I already did that and in some cases they ask for lots of info and, in some cases, its just an email address but I dont see the point in that as all it means is I waste my time and YOUR time running back and forth getting answers to questions which are easily answered by filling in the form in the first place. Like I said before we need some sort of form to show acceptance of our terms and conditions which an email doesnt really provide.

Good idea guys and thanks for the feedback - as soon as I have a few reviews done (which should be tonight hopefully) I will get a sample review uploaded although my designer hasnt quite done with the site layout yet so it will be pretty basic layout wise etc but at least it will show the sort of review I am going to do.

There is no such thing as bad feedback as long as its constructive so tell me what you dont think is needed there - I *think* all the info is needed for us to do a proper review but I stand to be corrected!

paysite owners would have to be pretty dumb to give a recip, especially to a new site

Why? What does a recip cost you as a webmaster?? Most webmasters will be linking to the review once its live anyway to help convince surfers to part with their cash so whats the difference? Also if you notice all I am asking for is a text recip - not demanding people put some huge, great ugly banner.

Check out the fourth item on their criteria list - the one in red..............

If I dont get a recip the site doesnt get reviewed - simple as. OK maybe that means my site dies on its ass but if thats the case then so be it.

What are webmasters so afraid of? A review site which will do TRUE reviews and expose the mundane, dreary shit that exists out there? The only people who should have anything to fear are those with crap sites who dont want the surfer to know that whats inside is rubbish until they have taken their money - everyone else has no need to fear any review site.

"Why? What does a recip cost you as a webmaster??"

Links were gold dust about 2 years ago on the engines - now however - they arent worth a fraction in terms of rank, however many webmasters are still behind the times when it comes to SE technologies - and still believe that giving a link will harm them.

In actual fact - it is the other way round at the moment on Google.

After taking advice and getting some great feedback from webmasters I have now REMOVED the requirement to have a recip to submit a review request - one would of course be greatly appreciated (and it doesnt have to be on your main site / the site you are requesting a review for) but its not mandatory.
