I never saw a horse fall backwards when spook, yet I saw a lot of riders fall off :)

Surefire, if someone if riding or mounting a horse and it spooks what is their first reaction (if they're not an educated rider)? To pull up on the reigns, right? If a horse is reared up and spooked and you pull up on the reigns what generally happens? The horse falls back on the person.

It's really simple physics in play. When the horse is spooked they do one of two things; rear up and pull their front legs off of the ground or pull a 180 and haul ass the other way. If they haul ass the other way then you're pretty much safe and after a second you can regain control. However, when a horse rears up and you pull back on the reigns you are just going to pull it further back and gravity comes into play. The horse will fall back onto you, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. If you ride horses and know what you're doing then the last thing you do is pull up on the reigns when a horse rears up. :2 cents:

There were a lot of bad decisions made and to come here and ask for donations because of them are simply out of line.

With your assumption all horses are movie stars.

They rear up and move..they don't fall BACKWARDS TO THE GROUND when some one pulls hard on their mouth...unless they were train to do it. :)

This sounded fishy from the start ... but time will tell... I just hope all the donations make it to her

Actually, you took part of my post too literally -- it wasn't you that was ripping Nikki (I should have pointed out the thread that did). So my reply was not specific to your thread but the few there has been on this topic.

In any event, what's that saying about everyone has opinion ... but is it an informed one? In both "flame" threads that come to mind in this matter, you both make some pretty strong accusations but did not bother to find out if they are true or not.

Saying "if he wants to challenge my views, let him come here and do it" is not realistic. Sure, he may have time to set up funds, email addys and web sites to get donations (or in your opinion, fleece people) but he shouldn't have to defend himself against everyone who doesn't agree with what he's doing, should he? Should he be monitoring GFY 24/7?

If I was him, I'd keep quiet for now and let heads cool off. I'm sure he had no idea of he firestorm he's created here - but he sure should have expected it.

Nevertheless, I wish less people felt inclined to start threads about slamming him and perhaps, at least, talked to him first or challenged him before making some pretty strong comments.

Your reasons are your own for starting this, but I'll give you credit that you are at least standing your ground and providing valid arguments. Too many on GFY just hate back whenever challenged. So kudos for that, even if I don't agree with you!

I spent several years as a rider in horse shows as well as worked on a horse ranch, and rob is 100% right. you are supposed to NEVER pull back when a horse is rearing up.

bashbug 11-08-2005 05:26 AM

someone provide a number to the hospital so we can verify this accident really happened :)

that will never happen.

One, hospitals will not release the information because it is confidential
two, ethically, it is wrong. She needs to be protected from getting calls or visits from stalker type pervs
three, do you really think she's under Nikki Nova?
