anyone from Savannah, Ga?

I *might* be moving to Savanna, and I wanted to get a opinions on the town. I've heard some different things about it.

1. that it was a great town. people are nice..etc.

2. other side. crime is terrible. people aren't so great. ohh, crime is terrible.

it would be nice to see some of your opinions.

i am from atlanta and have been to savannah quite a bit

from what I have seen from being there, it is a great town, HUGE party town......people are nice anywhere though, you just have to know when and where they are nice....as a whole though, all of georgia is a great place with wonderful people

lots of southern hospitality ;)

Savannah is a nice town, definitely a party town, very easy to get lost in if you arent familiar with it however. I've enjoyed every visit there, never had any problems.

It's a beautiful, old historic city. I absolutely love to go there. Fabulous climate, stunning architecture, and the people are friendly. Even though I've never had trouble, the crime is definitely a factor. One of my friends from college moved there the day after we graduated to take a job, and within 2 months she was brutally murdered. It was horrible.

Go rent "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" and you'll see some great Savannah shots.

that is horrible. I am seriously have second thoughts about Savannah

i moved from west palm to podunk ga a few months ago, cant deal with the hurricanes and extremely fast rising housing costs. i have some family here so its not so bad, kinda enjoying it. savannah is pretty nice, couple/few hours east of me, ive been a couple times over the last decade.

you think the crime will be worse in savannah than in west palm?

Get a good real estate agent. Like every other city there are good and bad parts to Savannah.

I guess that's the thing. I know West Palm/Miami. So I know how to get into trouble, and stay out of it.

Yeah, I'm with ya Peaches. The good news, the people that want me up there have lived/do live there now. So they can steer me in the right direction.

Southern people for the most part are polite which is so far from nice. I have found and most have that transplanted from here. People from up north much more real, which I prefer.

I live basically in the 5th burrow of New York. This is where New Yorkers send their parents to die. So I think any change in people and attitudes would be good. I spent some time in Mississippi too, so I know how the southern people are. Good fucking tea too!
