How much does health insurance cost in the US?
I'm really just wondering... I understand that in the US the gov doesn't provide health insurance and people have to get it from private hands (am I correct?)... most people always say that it's a bad thing, so I'm interested to know what price range (per year?) can get you a health insurance that would cover basically most major injuries, surgerys or whatever you would need in case of emergency, because I believe in most countries where the government subsidizes health insurance it still costs a relatively small fee for every citizen.

				 | A single healthy person can get health insurance for as little as $80-150 a month. Lots of factors. I have noticed that many people in the "free insurance" countries seem to also carry additional private insurance, which makes me wonder why they think free insurance is such a great thing. Oh, and don't forget the difference in taxes.

				 | Boston has a minimum wage of $6.75. So minimal full time salary here would be $13,000.00. After taxes, Social security, medicare you'll probaly retain about 80% of that. All jobs that are full time are required by law MA state law to offer some kind of full medical insurance coverage. Which usually amounts to about $60-$100 a month for a single person and $150-300 for a family. If you get medical insurance without having a job...COBRA i think its called...you're looking at $400-$500 a month.
