That is my whole point. Why do so few on GFY care that this bullshit goes on. It is completely unethical and a complete scam to the model, the customers, and the affiliates. This is no fucking way to run a railroad!

She's definately not the only one that this has happened to. They did the exact same thing to me (www.christineconners.com) @ the end of May and a girl named Bri aka (www.kelliyoung.com) back in Feb or so. Stupid on my part for being a trusting person? Yes. Onemodelplace was a great thing for me, until this happened.

It's a widely known fact that I don't work with their site. I shot with them once, will never again. I am sucking up my mistakes, working on my own thing, and moving on. It's all you can do. I am making sure the quality is 100x better than the $250 camera they use because I am using a real photographer.

The best thing about it is, the pics of me on that site are so poor compared to some of the stuff that I'm working on that people usually don't even know that their site is really me.

I'm sorry to hear that they're still fucking up people's lives though but you know, some people have no conscience and never change.

I did read it and it's pretty standard, but as I'm sure you realize, just about any contract you sign your rights away if you're paid for the shoot.

And as stated in the last post, I did basically do so. I wasn't complaining about it, I was just reinforcing the point being made by this thread.

Nothing I can do about it, I just sort of ignore it now and tell people to fuck off when they come up to me and call me Christine.

Of course it is unethical to talk someone into one thing and then do something else. You are also right about the site's customers being misled. And the really stupid thing about this all too typical (for this business) bit of all-around exploitation is that it is so unambitious. If Liz were saleable and the people involved had the skills to sell her, they could have made more money in the long run by being above-board.

But regardless of what she claims someone told her at some point, she signed a contract which - presumably, or you would not need to be here - does not protect such things as the use of her name. She cannot blame anyone but herself for signing that.

She still has some legal rights and if in its text the site were portraying her in a detrimental way (not simply a way she doesn't like), she could sue the operators for libel. Unfortunately, I seriously doubt this site could be interpreted that way.

BTW the best way any professional model can protect herself against this kind of thing - apart from checking contracts more carefully - is to register her name as a trademark.

exactly. I'm in the middle of trademarking a name and it's almost approved. It's been a long process, but I know it will be worth it in the end. And in the end, I will get the site. I think this is the only way to do it without having to pay a ton of legal fees.

I totally understand model releases, and I totally understand flake models.
What I am pissed off at is this company saying one thing and doing a totally different thing. They never told her that they were registering a domain name with her trade name and marketing it. She has no problem with the pictures she has a problem with what amounts to internet identity theft. That was not what anyone discussed or agreed to.
