What is the best way to ship internationally?

What is the best way to ship medium weight items internationally i.e. economical but not slow boat style?

USPS for sure - I am getting lot of stuff from US and this is really the best.
Use "worldwide express" option - takes 4 biz days to europe and it has tracking number.

always had good experiences with DHL. Had items from HK to AU in 30hrs once. From europe they are also very speedy. good trackin, worth the $ imo.

All the major air courier services operate solid services, so choose on price. Different companies tend to focus on different regions, so prices can vary a lot.

FedEx is the most annoying company in the world when it comes to making sense, but also the fastest and most effective. Be sure to ask rates before you send, their International Economic (5 days) is in many cases more expensive than International Priority (1 day). Jeez, they annoy me.

It basically all depends WHERE youre gonna have it send.

UPS is the only one who does A to Z tracking and has own planes own vehicles etc. Costs a bit more but youll never hear 'uh we gave your package to some local post clerk'.

fedex is a good option if you don't want to do any further research and only want to call one place. otherwise, when i was in the business of touring a lot and needing to send random one-off pieces of gear overseas, etc. i used airline carriers, the last one i used was delta. they have commercial shipping rates and it usually means you have to go to the other area of the airport most of us don't normally use.

The tracking number used to only be trackable while the package was in the US. Not sure if they have changed this but that would require an interface between USPS and every other postal system in the World. Somehow I just don't see USPS being able to do that.

Use UPS or DHL, have nothing good to say about Fedex after they lost a big expensive DVD copying machine, and then tried to tell us they delivered it, then after we had spent about a week on the phone they admited that it got stolen of their truck...

Exactly. Once USPS is shipped to Europe the # cant be tracked anymore. BIG disadvantage. Plus its given to the #1 forwarder, doesnt have to be the official postoffice, can be any local small company who leaves it on the doorstep (like they did with $2k equipment of ours...)

I think DHL, UPS and Fedex are all good but it depends from where and to where you are sending. Just I suggest you have an account with each company and depending on your location you can call and find out the best price..
