I agree, they are a pain in the ass. every time I come hear I have to turn off the sound just so I can read the board. they are making me an enemy rather than an affiliate who wants to promote your program.

Sound on banners is annoying as hell. It's a stupid idea and does nothing except piss people off when their mouse accidentally runs over them. Great way to get new affiliates! Fucking idiots.

Me too... Was driving me nuts, every time I refreshed the page, if my mouse was somewhere else in the window while it was redrawing, the sound would play. I'd hear the damn things when clicking new threads and everything, and I never moused over the banner.

Some of us do play music on our computers...

Well! if anyone from GFY or PB is reading this right now, this should tell you a lot :

1-People seem to generally dislike 'em. I know the point is to get your message thru, not necessarily to get them to click. Which brings me to my 2nd point

2-People take measures towards those banners which affect the overall value of advertising on GFY. And THAT, is not so good.

very true - I have a very negative feeling towards any company who scares the shit out of me when I am listening to tunes and their f@cking sound bites come on and I cant shut them down. Owners are on the advertising idea that there is no such thing as bad advertising - in this situation - yes it is.

I refuse to send clients to companies that simply use techniques as annoying as a car or vacuum salesperson who sticks their foot in the door and wont leave until you buy.
